Und während gleichzeitig neben der Möglichkeit mit der Blechkutsche direkt “in” den Laden zu fahren auch dutzende Parkplätze für KFZ vorgehalten werden, gibt es für Fahrräder nur zwei Felgenknicker. Im a novice cyclist been cycling for my work commute for just over a year and today I got my first flat. Had nothing on me to change it but luckily near a cycling shop so grabbed 3 inner tubes and the headed round the corner to change my flat. After about 15 mins faffing with the tyre and tube managed to get it on the wheel and the headed back to the bike shop to borrow their pump. Started pumping and eventually the pressure started going up and I though great I’m not a complete idiot I can change a tyre... then it stops at 50 PSI and BANG. The tyre was sticking out on the edge I hadn’t checked and exploded in the store with an almighty bang. With everyone looking at me one of the store members took pity on me and helped a much more embarrassed me change the tube. Glad I brought 3 now. I really hope someone tells me I’m not the only one to have done this. TLDR: Replaced inner tube, started pumping it up and it blew up as it was sticking out between the tyre and rim. $5 and one good ear gone I have learnt a lesson and have new inner tube fitted.

Rode my fastest 50km yet, feel like shit

I'm training for a 200km ride in Tokyo this August, and today I finally managed to get a 50km ride under 3 hours at 2 hours 40 minutes (average speed of 20km/h), with overall elevation gain of 400m. 50km is the most I can manage to do at the moment, but it felt good....until I got off my bike and the adrenaline stopped. 3 hours later, my muscles don't really ache per say, but my neck hurts, my entire body feels hot, and my hands/feet feel cold. Stomach feeling a little nauseous as well. Did I push myself too far? What can I do to better manage myself so I can keep improving, but not at the cost of the after effects? I had a bottle of water that I sipped along the way, and ate two cliff bars. Before riding, I made sure to hydrate before riding, and had a gigantic burger and side of fries...

I've seen a few accidents and nearly been doored a few times as a cyclist. I've seen someone with bloody hands, repeating over and over "I have a hole in my head, i have a hole in my head, I have a hole in my head" because he'd been hit so hard by the car it had cracked his skull. Well yesterday I was waiting at a familiar spot (Where I have observed a small accident before), waited for cyclists, was sure, and accelerated. I was looking the opposite direction to the one that the cyclist came from. I missed him by centimetres and he didn't even notice. As a car, I actually have right of way, but would be horrified to hurt anyone. I just wanted to post this here, to let you know to be extra careful. I was really trying to look for bikes and cars, it was really on the front on my mind and I nearly ran into someone. I'll be changing my own riding style as a result. Stay safe out there Edit: this happened in the Netherlands. The bike path was separated from the road, you have to drive over this, before you get to the road.
