I’m looking at an older (2010-ish) Gary Fisher Paragon 29er. The original frame cracked so it has a 2013 Trek Superfly frame. SRAM X-9 transmission and SRAM X-0 brakes. Is there anything in particular I should be wary of if I purchase this bike? Thanks in advance!

So far I considered ghost kato fs essential and polygon siskiu D6. I've seen that american bike stores have bikes extremely cheap (ex. Giant stance 29 2 and polygon T7 For 1500$ while it costs around 2500$ in my country(in europe)), however they sadly dont ship to Europe.

I am confused because during my ride last night, everything was fine. The tire did not flatten out. Even when I checked the bike before sleeping, the tire seemed to be fine. But then when I woke up, the front tire was completely flat.

I got this ex police cannondale mountain bike from my dad he works for the city and the bikes were sold off to city employees when the officers got new ones. I have put a lot of miles on it besides what it had already so it’s worn out. I eventually got tired of it because it’s too small for me I’m 6 foot 1, I left it outside for a few months :( Back when I cared about it I painted it and got some smoother tires for riding on the asphalt and sometimes flat grass. I recently rode my dads cannondale cujo and after experiencing those finger shifters and the disc brakes I’d really like to put together a nice modern bike. Is there any company selling frames to build upon or am I better off buying a frame from eBay or just going with a prebuilt. I’m going with hybrid because I’m not a fan of road bikes and hybrid seems to fit my use the most.

I recently purchased a folding bike that fits in my small car. It has small 20" tires that are very thin, similar to those found on road bikes. I'm finding it difficult to ride on dirt and I want to upgrade to better tires with more traction. Unfortunately, I'm having trouble finding ones that will fit my rim. Are there any recommendations?

I got this sweet GT All-Terra Telara and decided to restore and modernize it. It’s paint was in decent condition so i left it, but I swapped the cantilevers for v-brakes, new Town & Country tires, new Shimano 3x7 brifters a Shimano Altus rear derailleur all new cables and everything regreased. Let me know what you guys think of it!

I recently picked up a pair of Giro Rincon shoes and MKS Urban Step-In pedals, with ATAC cleats. They feel quite a bit harder to clip in to than my old SPD pedals. It seems like the tread on either side of the cleat is thick enough that it has to be compressed for the cleat to actually engage with the pedal. Is this something that would be resolved with a shim, shaving some tread off the shoe, or just going back to SPD and seeing if that works better?

Hello all, I've been going down a rabbit hole lately about getting a hard tail. I like to do overnight adventuring so I'm looking at something like the Marin pine mountain. in that category of versatility and build aesthetics. I already have a bike that would do what I want if I could add front suspension. My Medium Surly Ghost Grappler is built non suspension corrected. and has a 420mm Axle to Crown length. I've been looking at the shortest length regular front suspension forks, and some gravel suspension. I have attempted to under-bike some rough single track and rough forest roads with it and it just doesn't really have the front end give that id like (of course it wasn't really meant for that.) For 100mm travel suspension forks, the shortest I've seen just by browsing shops online, is about 488MM in length, which is 68mm longer, with sag could be 48-60mm increase in front end height. which doesn't seem like a lot. I understand that just a bit can throw off the handling of how the bike is designed but im not sure how. I have about that much space in spacers alone between my stem and headtube, so I'm not worried about my body position changing. But I'm trying to picture how this would change the handling of the bike? can anyone explain give tips. I know this is probably sacrilegious to do this, don't tell the surly forum I'm asking, they wont invite me over for perogies anymore.

I’m a 6’2” 190lb male that likes to ride on flat ground trails. Nothing professional no jumps or any crazy stuff just joyful 10-20mile riding through dirt and asphalt trails. I have money to spend but also don’t want to spend more then it’s worth. I go biking 1-2 times a week during summers at most. I was thinking to target a $600 price range. I am skilled enough to build a bike if it makes it much more worth it then buying something preassembled. I just have no clue where to start or if my budget is even right. One thing I really like is big and thick mountain bike tires. The bigger the better lol but no specific size in mind. Please help with some guidance I’m so lost

Hello, I want to know why people are choose to get a wheelie bike or "big wheel bike" instead of a "normal" mountainbike? Is it because of the pegs or something else. Or does the size matter to people who do wheelies?

I usually ride road bikes, but just put together an 80s Gary Fisher and want to get some tires that won’t break the bank (something that would be the equivalent of Panaracer Paselas for road bikes: bang for the buck if you know what i mean). Slick or semi-slick, tanwalls a plus, around 26x1.9 width or so What should i be looking for?

Washed my bike with the garden hose and after cleaning and lubing everything it felt like I dunked my chain in sand, I guess the pressure was too much? Not sure but now I’m going to be extra careful in the future. So I took everything off and while deep cleaning everything I noticed there was sand in my wheel hub behind the cassette over \[here\]([https://imgur.com/a/GntuGtd](https://imgur.com/a/GntuGtd)). My question is do I need to completely remove the parts and bearings and clean/replace them, or can I just clean that immediate area and if the latter, how should I go about doing that? what can I look up to find out more about cleaning that specific area? I feel like if I just go at it I'm bound to mess something up.
