Title ^ Chances are pretty low but worth a shot. I'm located in Marseille and have a car. I'm looking for people to watch the mountain stage this Sunday 7/16, LES GETS LES PORTES DU SOLEIL > SAINT-GERVAIS MONT-BLANC. Let me know! Otherwise I'll still go but am thinking about bringing my bike with me. Perhaps park a few km away and then ride to the stage.

I'm in my late 30's and have ridden this bike since I was 14. It's sentimental to me, but I also LOVE the steel frame. I've probably put 10,000 miles on it myself ridden across states and all over my own. It has untold miles on it and no longer shifts or stays in gear well. I've had it tuned by many bike shops, and there's not much they can do at this point. I'd like to find a new gear set and even wheels. I have other road bikes with gearsets like the Shimano 105, which would be fantastic, but I don't think that would fit? My priority would be upgrading it to new, modern components to give it decades more use. I'd prefer to stay away from used parts. Does anyone have experience with upgrading old bikes like this? I asked this same question on Reddit almost a decade ago but didn't receive responses. Links to parts or suggestions would be deeply appreciated. Thank you and cheers!

Hope this is allowed here. I was watching the highlights from stage 2 today and wanted to ask about the points. It looked like there were 3 riders in a breakaway, but for some reason the peloton still sprinted for points at a checkpoint. (Commentator said 15 points). Question: Is it 15 points for 4th place, or does the breakaway not get any points? Or something else?

I am cycling with my friend who broke his rear rack in Northern Iraq. Unfortunately we were not able to weld it because it is aluminum. We are now planning to take a bus to Mardin, Diyarbakir, or Van to get a new rack. Does anyone know where we would be able to find a rack in those cities? Would it be possible to ship a rack to one of those destinations from another city in Turkey in less than 10 days? Any other ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

I've fixed up an old yellow Schwinn and been riding it lately. I'm getting more into riding and feel like it would be nice to upgrade to a newer, nicer bike. Thinking a hybrid would be nice, even hardtail due to the less than perfect trails and roads around me. As far as new bikes, I've been eyeballing the Trek FX1 and the Cannondale Quick 5. For $570-$600 I'm currently looking at a Haro Bridgeport 2021 that a guy only wants 200 for. It's my size and looks pretty nice. I'm going to drive an hour to look at it in a couple days. It's got front suspension, and some other nice features. Not exactly the style I was originally looking for but it seems like a good upgrade for the price. Hard to pass up that price if it's in the condition he says it is. Pics look good but hard to say until you're looking right at something. He sells bikes and mentioned a trade. I would want to trade straight up if so, as I think my bike being all original and fixed up is worth at least 200. Ideas? Advice? Opinions?

I'm trying to take the wiggle out of the headset, but no luck. I'm new to working on bikes and fairly sure that the lower large hex nut is what I should be tightening to tightening the headset bearings. I've taken it completely off and moved around the washer and the shifters to see if something was getting in the way. Put it back together and it seems like no matter how tight I get the nut it's not taking the slop out of the headset. I don't want to overnighter and strip the threads on anything. Is there something I'm doing wrong or does something look off about the stack of things on the headset? I loosened the stem bolt as well while learning about what I've got. Any advice?

Does anyone do this? I usually bike enough to save 5-10 Euros on trains and then use that money to buy ice-cream or beer, or both. Sometimes, I ride enough to afford wine and cheese. It’s been a great motivation for me to earn some brews and sugars.
