Anyone have a recommendation on how a lad can watch the Tour of Flanders in the US (without paying $150 for a yearly Flosports membership)?

I was wondering if anyone had ever heard of such thing as a company that provides the service of a tour guide that will take you around to different locations to watch a major bike race in person? I’m going to be in Bilbao next week with my father and we were hoping to catch stage 4 of the Itzulia Basque country while there but we won’t have a car and a lot of the race will be in the country side. Is there such thing as hiring a professional guide to drive us around to different places to see the race? I’ve been doing some googling but I can’t seem to find any good leads. Thanks for the help

The video is published on YouTube and is an old VHS film of Phil Liggett or Paul Sherwen (Don’t know who it was exactly) recounting the best/iconic moments of the Tour De France in the years 1980 to 1990ish? Now that I think about it, it might just be a segment out of the whole film but the soundtrack is just awesome and is the reason why I need to find this video again on YouTube.

Hi, the other day I stumbled upon Quoc cycling shoes and fell in love with Gran Tourer II model. I've decided to order but I'm in doubt about the size. For reference I am usually wearing size 43.5 regular shoes with cycling shoes around a size bigger. And I have slightly wider feet. Is there anyone on this sub who has this Quoc model of shoes and can feedback? Many thanks!

Hi everyone! My wife and I are passing through Treviglio, Italy this week and were curious if any has heard anything about the factory offering some sort of tour? We’ve both been massive fans for years and it would be a dream to see where it all happens!

Looking for any advice from anyone who’s been to watch the tour before. I’m looking into taking the camper van to see the summit finished at Mont Blanc. Can anyone give any advice on the logistics of summit finish stages? I see all the motor homes parked up when watching on tv. Is it as simple and turning up a day or two before and finding your spot? Where can I find info on parking motor homes on the continent? Has anyone done something similar ? Look forward to hearing from yous!

Hi All, I've been cycling for around two years and I would rate myself as a fairly middle of the road cyclist, probably bordering on under-average (certainly against serious cyclists). I've done a number of 100KM+ rides, although I'm now seriously considering a 7 day tour that will cover anywhere between 100-130KM per day, with climbs going up to 2200m per day. It's a pretty tall order, but ultimately something I think should be achievable, probably more a mental battle than anything else. Ir's definitely outside my comfort zone and bigger than anything I've ever done before. I really just wanted to ask for some advice from the broader community? * What were your experiences on your first major leap above your ability? How did you mentally prepare yourself? * What sort of training do you do for this sort of distance? Distance is of course a must, and working on my climbing, but how do you prepare for the amount of time in the saddle without appropriate recovery? * Nutrition - tips for keeping fuelled up * Watch outs - is it naive to just jump into this? are there risks I should consider? * Finally: **motivation -** I'd love to hear success stories from others who have been in my position and smashed it. What can I learn from you?

Hi everyone, Anyone around the world currently touring using an e-bike? I am thinking to start bike packing around Europe right now. I have an e-bike which I love riding and I do have all equipment for wild camping as that's what I would prefer to do for most of the time. All I need are the panniers with the rack, and maybe adapters for EV charging stations/campsites so I can charge the battery on the road. So I am undecided if I should sell the e-bike and just go with a normal bike. I am planning to do this for the whole year, but really with no plan ahead. Just see where the road will take me. I would really like to know if it's possible to charge the e-bike using EV charging points. I found adapters online from Type 2 to wall sockets so that would mean I can use them to charge the battery. What do you think? Pros and Cons? Any experience with this? Thanks for reading.

In the next year or so, I'm going to look into booking tours in foreign (I'm in the U.S.) countries. Wife doesn't bike, so I'll be alone. Basically want to bike several days through and area without having to worry about lodging, food, horrific diseases, or getting shot. Fine with sleeping bags, hostels, or hotels. Fine with eating by a campfire or restaurants. I basically want to pay someone else to do the planning and lead the way. Haven't really thought about a budget, but guess I'd be fine paying several thousand dollars. I'm starting from zero, so what should I know so that I don't end up in a 10 hour dive just to figure this shit out? Basically, at this point, is are there any countries to avoid or to definitely do?

Planning on a 10k mile tour in 2023 and have around £700 budget for a bike. As far as I can tell used is my best bet for that price. The "best" bike I've spotted I believe is Trek Domane AL3 Disc but was wondering would the AL3 be enough of a step up from the AL2 disc for the price increase? I worry the Shimano claris won't be good enough or have enough steps in the gears compared to the Sora on the AL3. Thank you.

Hey all, Curious to hear the communities' opinion. **In summary,** I was decent athlete ages ago, am over the hill today at 37 and traded health for career over the past 10 year, and am new to, and terrible at, biking. I'd like to set a lofty goal of finishing top 50/450 in the Tour De Vic's 100 km ride (last year, the 50th individual came in @ 3:40:58 - just under 30km/hr - route has 3400 ft of climb/descent). **1) Current Riding Ability/Athleticism - Low.** I've cycled only very lightly. 2 seasons ago was my first and I rode most Sundays a 60 km ride @ just under 20 km/hr and completed a single 150 km ride. Last season was even lighter. 2) **Previous Athleticism**. In my high school and early 20 days, I was fast twitch focused: placed top 3 provincially in the 100 m sprint and long jump, was ranked top 5 nationally for a racquet sport, and played top tier hockey. 3) **Limitation for Training**. Once a week, I'd like to continue lifting heavy (2x body weight for squats and deadlifts) which results in the recovery time associated with it. I would like to focus training starting April 1 (giving only 4 months of training time). Prior to April 1 I'll be playing hockey 2-3 times a week which will be my baseline coming into this. **Thoughts/Trainging Advice?** Is it achievable , or am I out to lunch (or perhaps not aiming high enough). Any training programs, coach recommendations, or other advice/comments? I welcome it all. Cheers all.

Hi there, so I've been using my Roadeo Hank since the last 4 years and it has started to give me some serious problems. My bike is fitted with Tourney front and rear gear derailleurs. The front one got screwed and refused shifting to the 3rd only a couple of years after the purchase. (I'm a student so I wasn't able to afford to fix that) and now the rear derailleur is also scaring me to death! It's skipping gears in such a way upon downshifting that it sends a massive jerk on the crank and pedals which is really hard for me to handle. Only a few days ago while I was leisurely riding around town, it happened and if I wasn't wearing proper gear that day, my right leg would've been slashed. And it's not that there's no maintainance done on the bike, only last month, I thoroughly cleaned and lubed everything. It's now getting scary to downshift. With that, I'll be consulting my parents and also considering to replace the derailleurs to Shimano Altus. What do you guys think about this, I'll be really thankful if I get some suggestions on this. Thank you so much for reading.

Hey y’all, I’m from the LA area and hoping to plan a bike tour up north, at least to SF, if not further (Eureka would be awesome). I was considering earlish spring of next year, say March or April. It will be my first long bike packing adventure, and I’m stoked! However, I seem to find a lot more instances of people doing the reverse route, and some warning as to the climbing and headwinds envolver going south to north. Do you think this will be an issue during that time of year? If anyone has done either direction and would like to shed some light on the experience, that would be awesome as well. Cheers!

Hi all, I have a quick question. So the bicycles that players use in Tour De France are players own purchases or some one will give them bikes and once they are done with race they need to give those bikes away? I mean they all look so expensive so I’m wondering whether it is similar to Formula kinda races where teams hire drivers.

Hi folks! I am a 24 yr old female and I recently got into cycling I have now been biking consistently for 2 months and I commute to work and really bike everywhere I go. Recently I looked into bike tours to do for travel and I saw in December trek is doing one in Chile . It’s been a while since I solo traveled and I bike about 40-50 miles a week I was wondering peoples experience with trek travel especially doing it solo . And if I should just go for it and sign up for the trip! On average it would be 37 miles a day so diff from what I do now and the incline is intense .

So, if you were there, or know if someone who was, celebrating the re-birth of this great event and want to be part of this project with some footage from you phone please write below. I'm really looking forward to hear from you all and see what we can put together.

Hi folks, I'm thinking about doing my first multi day tour in September, it would take me about a week to complete, and I'm wondering what kind of gear do you bring with you? I'm mostly concerned about rain on the way and getting soaked. Do you pack ponchos, gaiters and that kind of stuff, or just man it up and get soaked? :) Not bringing a tent or sleeping bag as I'll find accommodation along the route. Is there anything truly essential for a longer ride? Thanks!

I think it's safe to say Team Sky during the best years of Chris Froome was arguably one of the best teams ever, consistently, for about 3 or 4 years. Quality wise, I think today's Jumbo Visma would be a close second. Anyway, what would be your picks for best teams of the World Tour?

They’re both very similar so I’m confused. I’m kind of leaning towards the touring bike. Some context: I’ve ridden flat handlebars most of my life and the one I currently ride is pretty narrow. The bike I’m most comfortable with is a single speed bike with flat handlebars (it was a Brooklyn Wythe bike fwiw) I want to start biking longer distances (like 100k). I am thinking of bike camping eventually as well (doesn’t have to be an elaborate setup) but I want something for getting around efficiently in my city as well(I live in Montreal). Haven’t decided if I want to use this for winter since I might just use a beater then. I don’t care about speed as much but comfort is important https://www.decathlon.ca/en/endurance-road-bikes/326838-81472-rc120-disc-brake-bike.html#/33393-demodelsize-200m/42372-demodelundefined-967129 https://www.decathlon.ca/en/endurance-road-bikes/302301-90360-rc120-disc-cycle-touring-road-bike-navy-orange.html#/31683-demodelcolor-8545836/33394-demodelsize-200l

I’ve never really cycled seriously, but I want to do something a little adventurous. I am fairly fit. I used to cycle 15/20 miles a day on a mountain bike too. But I’m going to get a road bike, which leads me to my questions. 1. Can I use any road bike to tour on? 2. Will I be able to get fit enough in 4-6 weeks?

I kind of feel like an idiot for not getting the answer to this before buying my Suito Elite, but hey it was on sale and I've really wanted an indoor smart trainer for some time now. I use a stock [Panasonic Touring Deluxe](https://i0.wp.com/www.panasonicbikemuseum.info/wp-content/uploads/1985cat14.jpg?fit=1209%2C1600&ssl=1) as my indoor bike and since it's a bit of a hybrid (3x crankset, 5 speed cassette) it's been difficult to easily hook the thing up to the Suito. I purchased an 11 speed cassette to go with the trainer thinking it would work no problem but clearly the 5 speed cassette is indexed differently than the 11 speed! At this point I'm hoping to remove the Shimano UG 5 speed 14-28t cassette from the bike itself and plop it on the trainer, but it looks like the rear hub actually uses a freewheel and I'm not sure I want to destroy the bike just so I can grab the part and hook it up to the Suito. Searching around for a 5 speed cassette to purchase has been challenging, I assume most bikes use 6 speed and up at this point. But at any rate, I was hoping someone might be able to provide some insight here on how I can make this work without buying a new bike solely for indoor training.

I have an obscure funny memory of the giro or veulta from 98 to 05 which was a sprint stage with a small bump towards the end. I remember it because phil ligget was making a bold and confident prediction the stage was Mario cippolini’s to lose. The meme orange part is that as soon phil finished his claim, the camera cut to Mario struggling in the granny gear off the back, Phil just said in his signature accent “oh dear.” If anyone has this same memory, or has any advice to find the stage, any help is appreciated.

If riding a bike made of solid gold gave a 2 second lead in bike racing I'm sure all riders would do it, so I was curious what the pros would ride if price ACTUALLY mattered. Would they ride carbon fiber frame but with absolute crap wheel and components or aluminum with decent components? What do you think the bike would look like in this type of race. Wishful thinking but I wish this imaginary race existed, I'd watch it.
