I've seen a few concepts like the Ventoux https://static.wixstatic.com/media/62f254_cc8c0b0a0bc34967ab4440b3420c8eb9~mv2_d_3543_2126_s_2.jpg/v1/crop/x_0,y_66,w_3543,h_1994/fill/w_981,h_552,al_c,q_85,usm_0.66_1.00_0.01,enc_auto/2.jpg or the Virgo https://ksr-ugc.imgix.net/assets/041/005/600/4a290cbae201f01c2b7c5b0415928880_original.jpg , but that's about it. Some ski helmets seem to have chin guards but that's about it, anything I'm missing? Mostly interested as it's a great mounting point for a gopro ...

I don't know much about gearing and drivetrains but I want to build a gravel bike with huge range that would allow me to be really fast on pavement/flat terrain and do singletracks/loaded touring hillclimbs. So I would need a 2x or 3x set up with very low chainring and a bigger chainring for flat terrain like let's say a shimano GRX 48/31 crankset. Then I could pair it with a XTR 10-51 cassette? Perhaps mix and match it with SRAM or Campagnolo parts? Is such thing possible or that would be dumb? What would be the closest to my needs?

I tried on pearl izumi x alp summit at REI and they felt amazing. I ride mostly road and some minor gravel. Are these going to hold up to 30-40 miles at a time mostly road?

I'm looking for an affordable, entry level xc or trail bike. I'm not entirely sure what I'll be using it for as I never owned a bike in a big city (London, UK). Most of the time probably a general ride around the city. Commute to work? - maybe. I may take it to a proper trail as well, nothing crazy and complicated though, at least initially. Because of that I don't wanna spend too much on my 1st bike. After some reasearch I'm thinking of either cannondale trail 7 (around £410) or rockhopper sport (around £470). Both have similar specs but cannondale has xct fork while specialized has xcm - both from suntour. Some reviews say that xcm is better while other ones says otherwise. Do you think it's worth paying extra for specialized or better save some money and get cannondale? Giant and Trek with similar specs were over £500.

Mountain biked all my life, always thought road biking was boring. Now I’ve grown to love it and want to buy a nicer bike. Very familiar with mountain and gravel groupsets and drivetrains, gear ratios, etc. but not so much road-specific ones. Question: what’s the best drivetrain or groupset that I’ll never really need to upgrade, keeping in mind diminishing returns in terms of gains/price? Would it be Shimano 105? And how many rear gears would you feel is ideal?

Here in the philippines we race mountain bikes with extremely big chainrings (like really big) the biggest one I've seen was 64t! And bikes like these can go 60+ kmh and even 70! And its called crit.Basically its a poor mans roadbike.

I've re-started bicycling after 15 years and been repairing my old bike.. Almost everything is now sorted but there is one problem, the tires need refilling way too often for my taste. Bike is \~2003 GT Avalanche and has original Tioga tires (they have inner tubes), should I replace the inner tubes or is there some chemical solution for such slow leak? And if replacing the inner tubes is the way does brand matter much? I could get Continental or Schwalbe from local store.

I decided to ride some trails yesterday on my fatbike and unfortunately decided to wear some Specialized brand socks that are probably meant more for the road. One slight brush from the pegs on my pedal though and it tore a big hole in the socks. I barely felt the pedal touch but obviously the weave isn't up to this. So, wondering what are peoples favorite socks that have a good section around the foot for cycling, but the upper part is more resistant to snags and tears?

Hi everyone. Frame (6061 that has done around 12500km according to bike computer) of my current bicycle has developed crack around seatpost. It was small at first (year ago, it looked like a minor scratch, but grease from inside the seat tube was leaking through it, suggesting it wasn't just a scratch) and stayed that way for a long time, but it has started to grow quickly in about last \~200km (200km ago was when I was doing maintenance, and I am sure it looked the same way it looked year ago). Anyway, I have found a replacement frame, but I am bit undecided on frame size. Geometry of my current frame is approximately [this one (given size is 18")](https://www.bikegeocalc.com/#30Leader+Fox+Argus+29+18%22+2018a0b4c812.70862d302.26825e679.09475f739.29952g1000.37072h469.27727i368j368k1467.41208l932.75094m1206.45069n825.10409o1246.91248p1057.53603q1246.44507r1378.25206s1057.62213t31.8u40v-25w0.45758x10y280z40A0B150C25D505E45.5725F172.5G30H30Z12Unnamed+%232a0b4c785.28081d275e651.66694f712.03127g973.10247h441.84947i340j340k1422.15322l811.30417m1196.31617n703.65732o1236.77796p892.37418q1272.79051r1404.68415s891.15945t31.8u40v6w12.26076x10y280z40A0B150C25D393.36688E45.57249F172.5G30H30Z), and replacement frame has either [size S (with some sources describing it as 17,5")](https://www.bikegeocalc.com/#14Accent+Point+Sa0b4c807.8111d302.84041e681.42427f729.5152g1002.77882h470.47989i368j368k1458l932.73153m1212.01578n829.36534o1249.63799p1056.92753q1253.14652r1384.90248s1058.78072t31.8u40v-25w0.09493x10y280z40A0B150C25D504.71068E38F172.5G30H30Z12Unnamed+%232a0b4c785.28081d275e651.66694f712.03127g973.10247h441.84947i340j340k1422.15322l811.30417m1196.31617n703.65732o1236.77796p892.37418q1272.79051r1404.68415s891.15945t31.8u40v6w12.26076x10y280z40A0B150C25D393.36688E45.57249F172.5G30H30Z) or [size M (with some sources describing it as 19")](https://www.bikegeocalc.com/#14Accent+Point+Ma0b4c807.83471d303e670.6553f766.10993g1002.93841h470.50351i368j368k1482.69015l932.9142m1236.63944n829.54801o1274.26166p1057.11019q1277.77018r1409.51899s1059.04745t31.8u40v-25w0x10y280z40A0B150C25D505E38F172.5G30H30Z12Unnamed+%232a0b4c785.28081d275e651.66694f712.03127g973.10247h441.84947i340j340k1422.15322l811.30417m1196.31617n703.65732o1236.77796p892.37418q1272.79051r1404.68415s891.15945t31.8u40v6w12.26076x10y280z40A0B150C25D393.36688E45.57249F172.5G30H30Z). Tool is a bit stubborn, and geometry is not entirely accurate (mainly in case of my current bike, which has official ETT 1cm shorter), because whenever I enter one value, tool changes half of the others. Or the geometry given by manufacturers are not accurate and impossible in regular three dimensional space. My question is, my current frame is closer to the S one, but I am now wondering if perhaps M one with shorter stem (current one is 100mm, and 25° upward angle, included on linked geometry)) would be better choice? For context, saddle is currently moved slightly forward, I am around 178 cm tall, and my usual rides are nice trips through the nature (I am not a trail park rider), either paved or unpaved roads, and occasionally short bumpy segments (rocks, or roots) that are easier to ride when standing on the bicycle (not sure what is proper English term)

Hey, I have an older GT Avalanche Pro and I need to fit a rear Panier rack to hold a child's seat. The fixings at the top of the angled downtube look fine but the bottom fixings near the rear hub don't look right to me. https://imgpile.com/i/CNCN7g https://imgpile.com/i/CNCuQR Any ideas which rack would fit that bottom empty hole fixing type? Thanks!

Today I nearly wiped out on a descent, fortunately it was at manageable speed and I was anticipating something like this just looking at the surface. Currently riding Maxxis Crossmark, I'm generally happy with them everywhere except on loose gravel. My rims are 26" in case that can limit the selection. Thanks!

I've started ramping up the riding time on my xc bike, however my handlebars are too low for my body to handle on long rides. I hear you thinking, well just move your stem up. I wish I could but I cracked my fork and the only spare one I could find over a few months is literally just tall enough to fit my stem on. Therefore, to put my bars up I'll have to swap stems (unless you live in Australia and have a 100-120mm non boost 29er fork to fit an XL bike you want to sell me) and can't really try it before hand. My current stem is 5° and 80mm. If I go with a higher angle should I go slightly longer to keep the weight distribution the same or am I over thinking it and it doesn't make much difference? I'm not too worried about the front wheel lifting on steep climbs as my saddle probably needs to come forward anyway. I'm mostly worried about losing my front wheel on flat corners if my weight is too far back.

All things considered how much of a difference will a road or gravel specific bike make? I did 65k today on a full suspension with2.5 tires. All pavement in steep terrain. Took three hours. Given the same time how much further could one go? Am I ready for Tourdefrance?

I am also okay with AliExpress frames as well, however I’ve had problems to find a compatible frame as of now Budget: 400€ (cheaper the better ) Frame Size: 56-59cms Situation: Unfortunately the compatible frames I have come across costs at least 700€ by Surly.
