This updated Handbook on external costs of transport has been developed in the study ‘Sustainable Transport Infrastructure Charging and Internalisation of Transport Externalities’ commissioned by the European Commission DG MOVE, by a consortium led by CE Delft. The objective of this study is to assess the extent to which the ‘user pays’ and the ‘polluter pays’ principles are implemented in EU Member States and in other developed countries. This will allow DG MOVE to take stock of the progress of Member States towards the goal of full internalisation of external (and infrastructure) costs of transport and to identify options for further internalisation. The full list of deliverables of this study are: — Handbook on external costs – version 2019 (current report). - This report provides an overview of the methodologies and input values that can be used to provide state-of-the-art estimates for all main external costs of transport. Furthermore, the report and corresponding excel file present the total, average and marginal external costs for all relevant countries. — Overview of transport infrastructure expenditures and costs. - This report provides an overview of the infrastructure costs of all transport modes in all relevant countries. — Transport taxes and charges in Europe - An overview study of economic internalisation measures applied in Europe. - This study provides an overview of the structure and level of transport taxes and charges applied for the various transport modes in the EU28 Member States (and the other relevant countries). Furthermore, this study presents the total revenues from transport taxes and charges for the various transport modes and countries. — The state of play of internalisation in the European transport sector. - This report shows the extent to which external and infrastructure costs are internalised by current taxes and charges for all countries and transport modes.It also investigates recommended options for further internalisation. — Summary report. - Providing an overview of the main findings of the other four deliverables.

Saw GC Performance's video [THE BIKE INDUSTRY HAS A BIG PROBLEM COMING](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cm4IdNukQj8)! I'm here in Southern California where cycing is a year-round hobby. Seen recent stale inventory in recent months for nice bikes in the $4k+ range. Seems like inventory is starting to flood the industry with insufficent demand. Lots of components that were unavailable are now flooding in. Also, been tracking the used bike market, and bikes I really like at great prices remain available with no takers. Also, a recent long time shop Uptown Bicycles went out of biz. Last year, it was 2 Wheels Cycling Boutique that built one of my bikes. Seems like the market is softening, and maybe not in a good way.

The saddle was moved up 15mm, 10mm back and the nose 6mm up. The adjustable stem was moved up 5 degrees as well. The guy who did the bike fit said I was close and that he has done much larger adjustments. The biggest change though is the saddle. I've gone from a wide and soft Selle Royal Torx to a Selle Bassano Volare. I've ridden my bike to work the entire week and I'm completely pain free.

Ich hatte heute einen Fahrradunfall. Ich bin mit ca. 25 km/h auf der Straße in einer 30er Zone gefahren. Vor mir auf der Gegenspur stand ein Auto quer, das versucht hat, zu wenden. Der Fahrer hat gemerkt, dass er nicht genug Platz dazu hat, und hat etwa 5m vor mir den Rückwärtsgang eingelegt und auf meine Spur zurückgesetzt. Ich hab die Bremsen durchgezogen, mich überschlagen und bin auf der Straße gelandet. Mein Rad ist mir dabei auf den Rücken gefallen. Ich hab ein paar Augenblicke abgewartet, ob irgendwas schmerzt, bin dann aufgestanden und hab mich und mein Rad auf den Gehweg verfrachtet. Der Autofahrer hat geparkt, ist ausgestiegen und hat nach mir geschaut. Er war erst ehrlich besorgt, aber als ich nach seinen Kontaktdaten gefragt hab, hat sich seine Miene verfinstert und er meinte, da es nicht zu einem Zusammenstoß kam, könne er auch nicht schuld sein. Da mein Handy Akku leer war, hätte ich keine Kontaktdaten von ihm oder von Zeugen aufnehmen oder die Polizei rufen können. Außerdem tat mir nichts weh, ich konnte auftreten und dachte, es wäre alles in Ordnung. Hab dann noch kurz mein Rad durchgecheckt und außer einem verdrehten Lenker schien alles in Ordnung zu sein. Ich hab ihm dann gesagt, ich sehe ein, dass der Unfall nicht seine Schuld war (ich stand auch etwas unter Schock), hab ihn fahren lassen und bin selber heim gefahren. Daheim hab ich gesehen, dass ich einen roten Abdruck auf dem Oberschenkel hab, da wo mein Handy in der Tasche war. Mein Hosenbein ist aufgescheuert und mein Bein schmerzt beim Auftreten. Vermutlich aber nur eine Prellung. Jetzt bereue ich es, dass ich nicht mehr auf meinem Recht bestanden habe, weil ich ohne seine Aktion diesen Unfall nicht gehabt hätte. Wie seht ihr das? Wie hättet ihr idealerweise gehandelt?

Hi all, I think I mostly wanted to write this to get it off of my chest, but secondarily I am hoping to find some solace in others (if there are others) who can commiserate with my experience. I started cycling at the beginning of 2020 (bought my bike in January... very lucky and glad I did), and fell in love with the sport! Being outside, doing something that isn't killing my knees, actually performing in a competitive way (versus running.... nope.)... I stopped cycling as much in 2021 just because life got busy, and now I spend most of my workouts on a Peloton to keep my endurance up through the winter. I really, really, really love cycling. I think it's so fun and I love the community; I can't wait to get my boyfriend into it and get back on my own horse... but here's the thing: sometimes I really hate the body it's given me. I was a runner first, so I developed some pretty sick calf muscles, and between that and growing into cycling, my legs are *strong*. I know that's a good thing; I know that I'm healthy and fit and I could probably crush a watermelon between my thighs (or at the very least know I'll never lose my phone to the toilet bowl), but as a mid-20 something female... the world tells you that you should be a certain body type, clothes should fit a certain way (dreaded jeans shopping), etc. and it's hard to overcome that feeling of insecurity when you don't fit the mold. Cyclers of Reddit, if any of you have felt insecure about the body cycling gave you, how did you reconcile that? Did you ever? Thanks in advance :-)

I fell down from my bike today. This is the third time I have been in an accident in the last month. I was lucky enough to get away unscathed the first two times but, I hurt my ankle today. I live in a country that is one of the most unfriendly places for cycling. Half the people on the road here do not deserve a driving license. Every single time I go out for a ride, I have to deal with idiots driving a two-wheeler without a helmet, driving without seatbelts, driving on the wrong side of the road, driving too fast, ignoring traffic signals, absence of traffic signals and pothole-ridden roads. People here drive two-wheelers on footpaths. There are rules. But, there is no enforcement. My first accident this week was because of a motorcycle not yielding to me near an intersection. The second was because of a huge pothole and the third was because of an asshole driving on the wrong side of the fu\*\*ing road. The asshole who caused the accident did not care. He did not even stop or look back. There is no protection for cyclists here. We are not even considered as traffic. I am sorry for the rant. Just thinking about giving up cycling is making me tear up. I picked up cycling at my worst. I was depressed, out of shape, was in a new city with a new job and no friends. What started out as a hobby gave me friends, made me fitter physically and mentally, and made me a better person. I have a newborn now and I don't think I can afford any more injuries. So, that will be it for me. Once again, sorry for the rant. Just wanted to share this with someone. Edit: I visited a doctor yesterday. Fortunately, nothing is broken. I have a wrap on to limit my ankle movement. A few days of rest and I should be okay. Thank you for your kindness.
