E.g my tube replacement strategy before a next-day ride; I fit the new tube, inflate it to 50% of target PSI to "let it get used to its new shape" at a lower pressure first, let it sit for a couple hours before inflating to 100% target PSI. After that I do a 15 and a 60 min leak check, top it up if needed and then check it again in the morning before heading out on a ride. If it punctures that day, then it is safe to assume I didn't offer sufficient sacrifice to the pneumatic gods. Really it's incredible that I manage to find any time for riding after all of the inflating and pressure checking. Do you have any cycling rituals for better riding that could perhaps be described as a placebo? Btw I should say, the above process I described, I only do it if I'm not planning on riding that day. If it's a mid-ride replacement, I just pump it up and go. Edit: good to see the cult of the pre-ride coffee poos is thriving, stay blessed and mobile.

Hello guys! I used to cycle in Eastern Europe and the Balkans and it was absolutely fine (except Istanbul). Recently moved to the US, and I am actually in doubt, should I buy a bike here or not because this country seems to be way too motorized and I'm afraid that will be swept away by some car in the first week. Some non-cycling people adviced to me to put bike into car as a safe way, and go to some park to ride. But it's kind of ridiculous when you need to load your vehicle into a vehicle to ride it in a certain place. How do you feel about riding at common roads? Isn't it kind of delayed suicide? Hallo zusammen. Ich wohne mit meiner Familie in einem eher linken Stadtteil eine Großstadt in BaWü. Wir überlegen uns ein Lastenrad anzuschaffen. Das Parken bzw. Abstellen stellt uns nur vor Probleme. Die ehemalige Nachbarin über uns im Haus hat es immer auf dem Gehweg abgestellt, aber ehrlich gesagt, ist der Gehweg so schon schmall genug. Auf unserer Straße wird beidseitig längs zur Straße mit Autos geparkt. Ich tendiere STVO gerecht, einfach auch längs zu Straßen in den Parkenplätzen "für die Autos" zu parken. Es gibt keine Möglichkeit, es im/vorm/hinterm Haus abzustellen. Wie löst ihr das Problem? Habt ihr Erfahrungen zum Parken auf Stellplätzen "für Autos"? Soweit ich das gesehen habe, sollte es erlaubt bzw. sogar vorgeschrieben sein. Edit: Hat jemand Erfahrungen mit Alarmschlössern?
