Hey Leute, ich wurde heute morgen von einer ordentlichen Salve Scheibenwischer Wasser erwischt. An der roten Ampel hab ich brav hinter den Autos gewartet anstatt mich vor zu drängeln. Prompt spritzt mir der bmw vor mir mit Augenkontakt durch den Rückspiegel 2 Sekunden seinen Liebessaft entgegen. Bevor ich realisierter was passiert ist er weg und ich leicht benässt. Ansonsten natürlich wieder ein paar Rechtsabbieger, Fahrradweg parkende gehabt.

Just missed being ironed flat this week by a very quiet EV that I just didn't spot. Suddenly I'm a convert to the idea that more chances of spotting impending doom = A Good Thing. Any recommendations guys for a decent rear view mirror.for drop bars? I'm in the UK so I can't get what.looks like the obvious choice, the Selle Italia eyelink, as its a left hander fitting only. Not keen on helmet based ones though tbh Edit, thanks for all the replies. Do have a Varia. And agree with the consensus that they are great. Feel naked without them. (Actually being naked would likely cause yet more danger due to drivers involuntary gasps of horror, or retching)

Maintaining cycling with my aging father.

Howdy folks, hoping for some general advice here as I anticipate many changes in the coming years. My dad got us into cycling about 10 years ago. At the time, I was morbidly obese, he was regular obese, and while he got into it largely for the toys, he really started to enjoy it. I didn't at first, but while at college I started to... lost about 40 pounds, summitted Kilimanjaro the next year (2015) and then... went right back to old habits. In the meantime, he kept cycling up for many years. Rode the Hotter 'n' Hell 100 several years in a row, rode the Alpes d'Huez, trailing the Tour, etc. I wish I could say the same, but I didn't really take my health seriously until 2021. My second child was born and I decided to nut up, grow up and get in shape after being overweight or obese since age 12. As of this morning, I've lost 126 pounds so far (327-201, at 6'1", 29 y/o) and have another 30 pounds or so to go. It feels crazy to even say, but I run regularly now, about 15 miles per week, and aim for a tri in the next couple of years. My fitness for cycling is better than ever, but on the last few rides with my dad, it's clear his isn't. He's out of shape, for sure, but he's also nearing 60 and starting to show his age. He's a dentist (yes, I know, insert jokes here) which takes its toll on his stress levels and blood pressure, which he's never managed well. TL;DR - How can I keep cycling with my dad as long as possible? He's getting older while I am quite literally in the prime of my life, fitter than ever and still fitter to get. I'm thinking about encouraging him to consider an e-bike so he could hang with me on long training rides, but I worry his pride will get in the way of that.
