So. I'm out riding earlier. I'm in the bike lane as usual. Some car honks at me while passing. I analyze for a moment. I'm im the bike lane. Not drifting out into the car lanes. This guy's just being a dick. No other cars around. A little up the road, red light. I pass the car kind of waving my hand like "wtf dude?" I notice it's a female human with a female passenger. I figure it's some Karen with her daughter. Another red light and I end up very well ahead by the time it turned green but eventually I know they're going to pass me again. I notice them coming up next to me and slowing down. Window open. "What's the problem here?" I ask. It's not a Karen at all. It's two young girls. Maybe late 20s. "You're hot!" What? "You're hot! Why were you mad?" Oh. Thanks! Usually when cars honk at cyclists, they're being assholes. "oh no! We think you're hot!" Thank you! --- Made my day, tbh. Also I hit a new distance PR of 52.5 miles so that was nice too.

I was on a group ride this morning. Small group. Only 5 people today. We were riding on [this road](https://goo.gl/maps/rjaqSshztjXtU73X6), which as you can see, is fairly wide, has a bike lane, but the bike lane ends in about 100 yards as it approaches the next intersection. So we get to the stop light and a cyclist who isn’t with our group rolls up behind us at the light. He says, “excuse me, can I ask you a question?” Thinking he might be looking for directions or something, I try to be friendly and said, “of course! What’s up?” He asks, “just wondering why y’all weren’t using the bike lane back there?” Now without trying to stereotype people too much, from his appearance, he seemed to be a *very* casual cyclist, so I assumed he was asking in good faith to see if he could understand some of the nuance of group riding. I explained, “since the bike lane was about to end we went ahead and took the lane a bit early to make sure no cars tried to cut us off as we got closer to the light.” And at that point he launched into this crazy tirade that I can’t even remember verbatim, so I’m paraphrasing: He was saying stuff like how “guys like you in your little kits” (I actually do remember that gem verbatim 😂) are ruining cycling and making cars hate us, and how we are so unsafe, and what “assholes” we are. Yeah, as soon as he started calling us assholes I was done with him. At that point it was clear that he wasn’t going to listen to anything I had to say so I just told him, “you asked a question, I answered. We are done talking now.” And he kept yelling at the back of my head for like 30 more seconds with me ignoring him until finally the light turned green and our group took off. Anyway, now that I’m home I’m laughing about it and it seems so funny. But at the time all of us in the group were pretty annoyed at this guy calling us assholes for taking the lane as we approached an intersection with no bike lane. For the record: our group is very safe. We do use bike lanes whenever possible. We stop at stop signs and traffic lights. We signal our turns. We run front and rear flashing lights on our bikes. So this guy truly didn’t know what he was talking about and just seemed like he wanted an excuse to go off on some “guys in [their] little kits.” 😂 So let’s all be safe and courteous out there, ladies and gents! I never thought I’d meet a jerk cyclist, but it happened today. We are all just out there trying to be safe and get some exercise. Be kind to your fellow humans!

Diese 1. Etappe auf dem Ostseeküstenradweg stand ganz unter dem Einfluss des Regens. Schon als ich am Bahnhof von Flensburg war, regnete es unaufhörlich. Ich wartete noch etwas am Bahnhof, aber es sollte nicht stoppen zu regnen. Irgendwann ist der Zeitpunkt gekommen, dass man ins kalte Wasser springen muss und einfach losfährt. So I was cycling back from playing tennis at my local club. I was wearing a big tennis bag and tennis clothes. I was on my road bike and wasn't going full gas at all. I saw someone ahead of me also on a road bike but in full lycra and clips and obviously out specifically to cycle. I realised I was going faster so tried to overtake with some speed so as not to go by and sit in front. I soon realised that said cyclist I had overtaken was drafting me, which I was fine with but a little bit confused because they must have had to speed up considerably to get in my draft. 20 seconds later they overtook me with some speed and I wasn't really sure what to do. They then get ahead of me and we were going the same speed so simply because of what had happened I ended up drafting them. By this point I was quite confused. 30 seconds after THAT, they turn around obviously annoyed and shout "either go ahead and piss off or stop drafting me!". Now me being a teenager I was quite taken aback by an adult telling me to piss off so I quickly hit the brakes and walked for a minute to gather myself. I honestly don't know what I did wrong. I haven't been cycling for too long, never really on big groups or around riders that I don't know, so I'm not going go pretend that I know the etiquette around situations like this. But really, what did I do? I overtook and they sped up to draft me, then they overtake and I'm forced to sit in their draft and somehow I'm in the wrong. I was going the same speed the whole time. I wasn't out on a serious ride trying to draft people or give people my draft, I was a teenager on his way back from the local tennis club. Seriously, why was this person so angry? Please help I don't want a confrontation like this again :(

I was in an accident two weeks ago and spent a week in the hospital. Multiple broken bones and a surgery, I was really lucky because I wasn’t wearing my helmet at the time. Cycling was everything to me, I don’t have a car so it was my independence. I don’t even know where my bike is now, it was broken in two pieces. I miss cycling so much. I was super fit, I worked a job in labor and cycled there every day, on the weekends I would cycle to the beach and various other spots to enjoy summer. Now my summer has come to a hault and I’m struggling to find the light at the end of the tunnel.

Ich fahre 40-622 Marathon Plus und bin eigentlich ganz zufrieden. Zwar fuhr ich schon häufiger bei feuchtem Wetter, heute jedoch das erste Mal mit diesen Reifen, als es richtig geschüttet hat. Und ich hatte das Gefühl, als würden meine Räder am Boden kleben. Der Druck ist der selbe wie immer, trotzdem war mein Durchschnitt etwa 5 km/h geringer als sonst. Daher meine Frage: ist der Rollwiderstand bei Nässe höher?
