Bike was traveling at 23 mph, truck coming opposite direction at 30+. I just made it through the turn and a Nissan Titan drifted into my lane to cut the corner. Drove through me. All I remember was screaming no, no, no, then collided with front left and flew. Called 911, demanded the lady did not leave, and rolled around in pain for 30 min before the ambulance arrived. CHP showed up as I left. Gave quick statement as I was driving away. Bike totaled: cracked frame, broken carbon wheels, handlebars bent. As for my body: concussion, bulging disks, and left knee doesn’t work. Lucky to be alive. Any advice on next steps? Located in California.

I've been cycling very regularly recently but when it comes to commuting, I find it such a hassle! I have to carry an extra set of clothes, a towel, shower and change once I arrive, change again before leaving, shower again when at home. Also, while at work the cycling clothes would be in my bag and stinking it up and my towel is wet and in the same bag... Also, it means that I'm going through 2 sets of underwear (socks, underwear, and vest) every single day resulting in running out of clothes and having to double my washing frequency. Am I doing something wrong or does everyone have to go through all this? Edit - wow! I'm overwhelmed by the response. Thanks for all the suggestions and advice. Haven't had the chance to read through them all but will do it soon. I've already found a number of ways of making the situation easier and will have a go at some of these soon.

I have a new place to run and I know some of the trails are for bikes only so obviously I’m not going to use those. But there’s this big trail in the middle that’s for everyone, even dog walkers without a leash. Usually, I would run on the right side of the trail. But I realized that’s probably what cyclists are doing as well. Should I be jogging on the left so I can see if a cyclists is coming toward me? Or should I stay on the right so they know where to expect people to be? Thanks! EDIT: Thank you for all the responses guys!

Hi Leute, mein letztes Fahrrad hatte ich in meinen Jugendzeiten und ansonsten war ich immer zu Fuß oder mit dem Auto unterwegs. Jetzt bin ich allerdings umgezogen, recht nah an meine Arbeit und guten Einkaufsmöglichkeiten und wollte mir daher ein Fahrrad zulegen. Im Prinzip würde ich nur auf Asphalt fahren mit teils nur leichten Steigungen zur Arbeit und eben einkaufen. Budget wären ca. 500€, die ich locker machen könnte. Wenn ich jetzt für 600€ das perfekt Fahrrad neu bekomme, wäre das auch drin, ansonsten gerne auch gebraucht für weniger Kohle. Nun zu meinem Problem: Weder bei Neu- oder Gebrauchtkauf hab ich irgendeine Ahnung, auf was ich achten muss. Welche Marken und Modelle in Frage kommen. Rein optisch taugen mir entweder so schicke Urban Bikes oder Hollandräder. Von daher meine Frage und Bitte an euch, was würdet ihr mir empfehlen? Neukauf oder Gebrauchtkauf? Und das Wichtige, welche Marke (oder auch Modell) kämen in Frage? ​ Besten Dank schonmal für eure Hilfe :)
