Struggling to bike 100m without getting tired

I thought that I was just really unfit, but I have had my bike for 2 years and every time I take it out for a ride, it is a huge struggle! At this point, I think it might be the bike and not me... I have a mountain bike that I got for free from a friend. Brand name is Huffy. On the lightest gear I am pedaling really hard. It also doesn't "glide" on its own without me constantly pedaling. A single push goes maybe 2-3m and then I need to start pedaling again. I am pushing really hard on flat surfaces, can't go up hills, and downhill is the only time I'm not struggling. My legs are screaming and I am sweating, and I barely cleared 100m. Walkers and joggers can match my speed. Tire pressure seems to be OK, and the wheels spin freely when I spin them. I'm not squeezing the brakes...my ex-husband once made a comment about the chain but I don't know what I'm looking for exactly. My fitness level is pretty average. I go on 2-3hr intermediate-level hikes most weekends. I swim a few hours a week. I exercise fairly regularly. I know that cycling uses different muscles but surely it can't be this hard? I don't recall riding a bike ever being this difficult as a kid. It's kind of embarrassing and almost makes me want to give up. Is it the bike, or is it me? I'm not sure what else to do to make this easier.

Am 3.1.23 war bei mir Newbikeday. Ich bin von einem Billig-MTB auf das Gravelbike "Atlas" von Focus umgestiegen. Ich pendle mit dem Rad und die erste Arbeitswoche hielt für mich direkt 3 Platten bereit. 🤦🏼‍♂️Jedes Mal habe ich auch den Mantel, innen, kontrolliert. Naja, eigentlich hatte ich mir vorgenommen, letztes Wochenende, auf tubeless umzurüsten. Bin dann doch lieber noch ne große Runde gefahren.😂 Gibt es gravierende Nachteile wenn man tubeless fährt? Ich hab eigentlich keine Lust ständig flicken zu müssen, oder Schläuche zu wechseln.
