I bought a new giant road bike for about 2500 USD The wheels after the first ride were making sounds after the first ride. I checked the spoke tension with my hand by squeezing two spokes. Super low tension to the point that the spokes next to the ones I was squeezing would flex. The Shop initially charged me for both wheel trues after I told them what's wrong. The mechanic wrote notes saying the spoke tension was low and that the rear dish was misaligned. The manager waived one wheel true after I told them what happened. They initially didn't want to waive the front wheel because I told them I had to tighten the spokes to ride to the dealer since it was unsafe imo. It was quite the mental battle to remain calm and logically explain to the manager that was showing signs of attitude and passive aggressiveness why I think the wheel should be waived even if I did tighten the spokes myself. Eventually she did waive the true. What do y'all think of this situation?

Hello! I recently got a professional bike fit the other day and I have been left with more questions than answers.  I recently purchased my first road bike: a Trek Emonda SL5 in a size 58. I got fit at the Trek store for frame size. However, it didn't feel right so I went to a professional shop not too far away to make sure that the bike was the right size for me. The shopowner who fitted me told me that, while the bike is the right size, it is not the right "geometry" for me. He told me that "the bike should work for me," and that I "shouldn't" feel like I am fighting the bike. What he was saying was true: he gave me a $10k+ bike to ride and it felt so easy and smooth (perhaps naturally, obviously). So, while I did ultimately have a decent bike that fit me, I didn't have a bike that "fit" me (according to this person, anyways).  I thought that this was fine, but I called back a few days later because I wanted to get cycling shoes and have those properly fit too. The shop owner told me: "Why would you continue to invest in a bike that is not for you? Why not just get a bike that works for you?" When I asked how much this would cost, he told me that it would be a "disservice" to get a custom bike for only $6k, but that "we" could build a good bike for that price. (Several people brought in $25k bikes while I was in the shop, and he pointed that out.) I told him that I would have to think about it. I am not sure what to do at this point. I freaking love cycling so far. But I am not sure (even if I return the bike and get my money back) that paying $6k+ for my first road bike is either smart or feasible. Or maybe the right thing to do is to actually "do it right the first time." I honestly do not know. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. P.S. To get out in front of this, the shop WAS NOT SKETCHY. That was not the vibe I got at all. The shopowner knows his stuff very well, and I certainly felt that way too. The fit was very technologically savvy too. (The shop has won several awards.) I do not feel like this guy is trying to rip me off. I actually believe he is genuine. I just want to make sure I make the right decision that's all. P.P.S. Bin mit dem Rennrad eine Abfahrt auf einer Vorfahrtsstraße relativ zügig hinunter gefahren, jedoch nicht übermäßig schnell, vielleicht so 40 km/h. Plötzlich zieht von rechts ein BMW auf meine Spur und bleibt dort stehen. Mir bleibt nichts anderes übrig als eine Vollbremsung einzulegen. Bin erstaunt, wie gut das geklappt hat und ich mit ca. 5km/h knapp am BMW vorbei gerollt bin. Hab glaube ich noch nie so viel Gummi auf der Straße gelassen. Das Auto ist dann erstmal weitergefahren, kam dann aber wieder. Jetzt wurde es etwas kurios. Der Fahrer war ziemlich entspannt gut gelaunt und hat mich für meine "geile Reaktion" gelobt. Außerdem bräuchte ich jetzt wohl am besten einen Schnaps (?). Er hat sich dann tatsächlich noch entschuldigt und meinte noch er wüsste auch nicht warum er mich übersehen hat. Ich war die ganze Zeit noch etwas perplex und konnte gar nicht richtig darauf antworten. Später dann hat mir dann noch ein Auto die Vorfahrt bei rechts vor links genommen. Außerdem hatte ich zwei Platten am Vorderrad, möglicherweise Schäden durch die Bremsaktion? Gab schon bessere Touren.

Stehe an der Ampel einer vierspurigen Straße und warte auf grün. Ich steige aufs Rad und rolle los. Ich bin gerade dabei die erste Spur zu Ende zu überqueren, da ballert ein Auto direkt vor meinem Vorderrad mit 60 an mir vorbei. Ich gucke ungläubig nochmal auf meine Ampel: grün. Ich gucke noch ungläubiger nach oben auf die Autoampel: rot. Ich gucke nach links: alle Autos warten. Im Nachhinein wäre ich dem Auto gerne hinterher gefahren und hätte den Fahrer/Fahrerin zur Sau gemacht. Aber ich war zu perplex.

Liebes Forum, ich studiere Medizin in Hamburg und arbeite in einer Forschungsgruppe. Wir forschen an chronischen Schmerzen, emotionalen Belastungen (Niedergeschlagenheit, Einsamkeit & Isolation (seit Corona ja leider ziemlich präsent...)) und einem neuen Selbsthilfeprogramm, das hoffentlich dabei helfen soll. Das Programm heißt Lenio und wurde von uns entwickelt (im Team sind wir Medizinstudierende, Psycholog:innen und auch fertig ausgebildete Psychotherapeut:innen). Wir suchen gerade noch Teilnehmende, die mit Schmerzen nach Unfällen (egal, ob bei der Arbeit oder auch privat - z.B. beim Fahrradfahren) kämpfen. Ich würde das Programm nicht empfehlen, wenn ich nicht glauben würde, dass es einigen helfen könnte. Das Ganze ist kostenlos, anonym, seriös (UKE Hamburg) und ihr kriegt auch einen 30€ Amazon-Gutschein als Aufwandsentschädigung + natürlich Zugang zum Programm... Vielleicht für einige interessant. Over the past months I’ve had 40 mile weeks, 65 mile weeks, 85 miles weeks and everything in between. Last week I hit 108 miles. I believe around 9+ hours. It felt so damn good. But the past couple days I’ve been bummed. I’ve felt out of it physically and mentally. I’ve done some very easy 1 hour spins that left me feeling better afterwards. I guess I just need rest. It seems like I wouldn’t, but I’m putting in a lot more work than previous months. The mind plays tricks. I’m doing better. Just sharing my accomplishment.

Hallo allerseits, je öfter ich mich aufs Rad schwinge, desto mehr nervt mich ein Rucksack auf dem Rücken. Macht das Fahren in meinen Augen unbequemer, die Haltung kaputter und den Rücken nasser als er sein müsste. Also hat mich jetzt die Idee gepackt, doch mal einiges Geld in eine Fahrradtasche zu stecken, in der auch der Laptop einen Platz findet (und da würde ich gerne auf Ortlieb setzen, einfach weil ich glaube, dass die wissen was sie machen). Da ich, so ich denn mal fahre, durchs Zentrum von Berlin möchte, macht mir der Diebstahl des Laptops aus der Tasche sorgen. Im Rucksack ist ja alles recht nah und man merkt wenn da jemand ran will, aber wenn ich meinen Laptop mehr als eine Armlänge entfernt und außer Sichtweite transportiere macht mir das schon mehr sorgen. Gibt es irgendwelche Möglichkeiten den zu sichern? (Meine Gedanken zum Thema: Das Ziel ist ja, den Laptop ans Fahrrad zu binden. Das kann direkt passieren, aber da bekommt man sicherlich beim ersten Regen Probleme wenn man da ein Kensington-Schloss aus der Tasche ans Rad führt. Alternativ kann der Laptop an die Tasche und die Tasche ans Rad angeschlossen werden. Es ist ja eigentlich auch nicht wichtig dass das absolut sicher ist, aber es sollte schon mehr als zwei Handgriffe dauern bis man den Rechner in der Hand hat, dass man ausreichend Zeit hat um a) festzustellen dass da jemand ran will und b) zu reagieren.)
