Hey everyone. I'm 15 and in high school. I also live in a small town with a population of ~6000. I was riding my bike to school, on a busier street that is on a state highway. Then, a douche in a red truck with a loud engine yells "Damn it" out their window really loud and speeds off as they pass me. I went to school, and today we got out at 11:35. I was riding home on quiet street when a bitch in an SUV yells something unintelligeble out their window. Why do people have to be so rude to cyclists? I was following all the rules. Wasn't doing anything stupid. They want me to ride in the sidewalk, at least according to my driving teacher. However, it is literally posted that no bikes or skateboards are allowed in the sidewalks. What am I supposed to do? A few days ago some bastard in a white chevy truck yelled at me and called me a jackass. A few times over the course of the time I've lived here (like 8 months) this has happened. Never happened where I used to live. This town sucks. What could i be doing wrong??

I need to get lighter. I’m 5’10” (180cm) and 185lb (84kilos), with a goal weight of 165 (75kilos), I was at 165, but got Lyme in the Spring. I was really lethargic for 3-4 months and constantly needed coffee and calories to stay awake. Does anyone have a diet / macros plan they can share? I’m riding about 3x 2 hours during the week and then a long ride between 4-6 hours on the weekend- so 10-12 hours total per week. ... and I've spent a lot of money on getting panniers, racks, bike locks, a bike alarm, and safety gear. But I'm noticing that most stores will either **not** have bike racks available, or put them in places that nobody would ever choose to leave their bike at. Are they doing it because they don't like cyclists, or is there some other reason I'm not realizing? There's more than enough room in front of some larger stores (i.e. Walmart), yet the bike racks are often in places that you'd have to consciously plan as the worst possible place to put a bike rack. Can anyone enlighten me? I really, really do want to use my bike for all my errands.

Bin ich zu blöd für Tubeless?

Ich bräuchte ein paar gute Tipps, weil ich meine Tubeless-Reifen mal wieder nicht dicht bekomme. Vor ca. 2 Jahren bin ich auf am Rennrad auf Tubeless umgestiegen mit dem Conti GP 5000 TL. Alles hat super geklappt, Reifen hat sich sofort richtig gesetzt, und ist auch ohne Luft im Felgenbett geblieben. Den erhöhten Fahrkomfort und die Chance, dass die Dichtmilch kleine Löcher selber stopft, möchte ich nicht mehr missen. Mein nächster Reifensatz waren ein Paar Conti GP 5000 TR (der TL wurde eingestellt). Und damit fingen die Problem an: Der Reifen sprang wieder aus der Felge, sobald der Ventilkern (und somit die Luft) draußen ist. Und den Reifen mit eingeschraubten Ventilkern richtig zu "setzen" ist verdammt knifflig. Der Druckverlust war bestimmt immer 1 bar pro Tag, soviel hatte ich beim 5000 TL vielleicht in der Woche. Die GP 5000 TR haben leider mir nur ein paar Wochen gehalten. Den Vorderreifen hat mir eine Werkstatt im Radurlaub auf einen Vittoria Rubino Pro umgebaut, der die Luft auch wieder super gehalten hat. Den Hinterreifen bin ich noch ein paar Monate mit Schlauch gefahren, wegen der Dichtigkeitsprobleme. Jetzt habe ich mir ein paar Vittoria Corsa Next TLRs gegönnt, aber der Druckverlust ist wieder immens. Über Nacht sinkt der Luftdruck auf 1-2 Bar ab, obwohl ich bei 5.5 Bar am Vorabend kein Zischen hören kann, und auch das Einsprühen mit Seifenlauge keine Bläschenbildung zeigt. Hier ist meine Vorgehensweise bei der Installation. Vielleicht hat einer von Euch eine Idee, was ich besser machen könnte: 1. Alte Felge von Dichmilch-Rückständen befreien 2. Neuen Reifen aufziehen 3. Ventilkern entfernen 4. 60ml Dichtmilch einfüllen 5. Reifen mit Schwalbe Tire Booster auffüllen und in die Felge springen lassen 6. Booster ab (Reifen springt jetzt wieder aus der Felge raus) 7. Ventilkern rein 8. Nochmal mit Booster aufpumpen 9. Rad 1-2 Minuten schütteln und schwenken, damit sich die Dichtmilch verteilt. Was mache ich falsch, bzw. könnte ich noch probieren, oder geschickter machen? Das Felgenband kann es eigentlich nicht sein, weil der Rubino Pro Reifen, den die Werkstatt aufgezogen hatte, die Luft super gehalten hat. Das Ventil ist auch das gleiche. Kann es sein, dass manche (neuere) Reifen einfach nicht zu meiner Felge passen? Soll ich mir diese Fillmore-Ventile für $70 kaufen? Fragen, über Fragen… P.S. Eines meiner Teilproblem ist der Schraubkopf vom Schwalbe Tire Booster (habe ich gedacht). Füllt man den Reifen ohne Ventilkern auf, um ihn initial zu setzen, entweicht die ganze Luft aus dem Reifen wenn ich den Schraubkopf wieder abschraube, bevor ich den Ventilschaft mit dem Daumen abdichten kann, um schnell das Ventil einzusetzen. Man hört wie der Reifen wieder aus der Felge springt. Ist der Ventilkern wieder eingeschraubt, kommt nicht mehr genug Luft fürs Setzen des Reifens durch. An der Tanke ist das kein Problem, der Kopf der Pumpe dort hat schnappt einfach aufs Ventil. Abziehen, Daumen drauf, schnell Ventilkern rein ist hier kein Problem. Reifen ist aber trotzdem nicht dicht, obwohl es kein Hörbares knacken gab.

Any Alternatives to Sugars for Cycling Fuel?

I have been using 2:1 ratio of maltodextrin and fructose in 2 litre bottles to fuel longer rides (if significantly over 2 hours). However after having a brush with throat cancer earlier this year and the radio and chemotherapy treatment that followed, I don't produce much saliva to protect my teeth, especially when out on the bike. My teeth are really suffering from the constant sugar in my mouth. Are there viable alternative fuels, maybe more complex starches, that would still work with cycling and be kinder on my teeth? I'm not sure how digesting more complex carbs at the same time as cycling works out. Even if more complex carbs it would probably need to be stuff that doesn't stick to teeth either. I'm not really interested in going down the totally fat adapted route but would be a shame if I had to limit my cycling to around the 2 hour mark although I'd be fine with that rather than losing teeth.
