Hi all. I'm just wondering if tubeless setups are worth it. I'm still using inner tubes and I'm just bringing a patch kit and a spare tube for long rides. However I heard going tubeless is good but also after hearing those people saying it is costly to maintain (need to change sealant every 3 to 6 mos and sealants are very expensive here in my country). I usually do only long rides usually pavement and occasionally light trails. So please enlighten me if it is worth it to switch to tubeless even if I'm only doing long rides or if it matches my discipline.

Moin, ich habe geplant einen Freund, welcher nach Montpellier zieht zu besuchen und dies gleich mit meiner ersten mehrtägigen Fahrradtour zu verbinden. Dann stieß ich auf die Eurovelo 17 und das sieht perfekt aus, sie endet direkt in Montpellier am Meer. Startpunkt ist Andermatt in der Schweiz. Klingt für mich sehr szenisch mit den versch. Landschaften. Nun war ich noch nie in der Schweiz, ich will am liebsten mit dem Zug(von Hamburg aus) runter, das dauert leider ewig. Fliegen ist super schnell und scheinbar auch günstiger und spart mir direkt 2 Urlaubstage, aber ich suche noch nach guten Verbindungen. Jemand die Tour gemacht? Wie sieht’s mit spontanen Übernachtungen in der Schweiz/Frankreich aus? Ich will ohne Zelt fahren. Ist AirBnB oder ähnliches dort eine gute Option? Gerne lese ich andere Erfahrungsberichte zum Fahren in der Schweiz/Frankreich oder zur Route selbst :)

First double century in the books

Last weekend I competed in the category 4/5 bike race Lotoja and was able to finish. I did it in under 11:30 hours. An entire years worth of training paid off. Around Christmas time is was fed up and severely overweight. I was tipping the scales around 280 pounds. I decided that I didn’t want to live like that anymore so I set out on a journey back to health. I was dedicated to losing the weight. I ran, walked, hiked, dieted, and of course biked thousands of miles. As things progressed I set clear goals of what I wanted to accomplish. Their were setbacks but having a plan and ignoring the small failures and focusing on the greater plan I was able to succeed. I was able to lose 75 pounds and feel like a new man. Now it’s time to set new goals! I’m planning on doing some crit races this next year. Maybe a triathlon, maybe a ultramarathon. Definitely doing Lotoja next year!

Hallo Konkret geht es mir darum, dass an einer T-Kreuzung auf einer stark befahrenen Landstraße (Tempo 100 an der Stelle), keine Möglichkeit gibt diese sicher zu kreuzen. Einen Radweg gibt es nur auf der andren Seite der Straße. Zusätzlich befindet sich dort eine Bushaltestelle (Ausbuchtungen auf beiden Seiten und gegenüber einzelne Wohnhäuser, mit einer sehr breiten Ausfahrt. Das Problem dort besteht schon lange und besonders da die Bushaltestelle auch Teil des Schulweges für Kinder ab der 5. Klasse ist. Auch meiner damals (aber das ist schon über 15 Jahre her).. Die Straße ist zum Teil so stark befahren, dass man gezwungen war die Fahrtrichtungen einzeln zu queren und auf dem Mittelstreifen zu warten, wenn man innerhalb von 10 min kreuzen wollte. Es gab damals einen Antrag zumindest die Geschwindigkeit auf 70 zu begrenzen, aber dieser wurde abgeleht, da die verkürzte Strecke auf der 100 gefahren werden darf dann dazu einladen würde. Eigentlich halte ich es angemessen, dass dort eine Auslöseampel und ein generelles Tempolimit von 70 herrschen sollte, aber ich weiß nicht wie man sowas aufziehen kann und ob es Stellen gibt mit Erfahrung um sich dafür einzusetzen. Was jemand von sowas?

Hallöchen, Ich werde diesen Herbst/Winter auf mein Fahrrad angewiesen sein und nachdem ich mehrere Regencapes ausprobiert habe und trotzdem jedes Mal pitchnass auf Arbeit angekommen bin, möchte ich mir jetzt anständige Klamotten fürs Fahrrad kaufen, damit ich nicht durchnässt und erfroren arbeiten muss. Welche Tipps habt ihr? Was tragt ihr im Winter? Ich nehme auch sehr gerne Kaufempfehlungen entgegen, aber bitte für Frauenklamotten. Mir ist wichtig, dass ich die Sachen schnell ausziehen kann, also eventuell am besten eine gute Jacke und ne "Überhose"(?). Funktionswäsche ist eine Möglichkeit, aber auf Arbeit muss ich trotzdem wieder normale Klamotten tragen und hab eigentlich keine Lust auf ständiges umziehen, außer es geht nicht anders. Mein Arbeitsweg sind einfach 8km, ca 20-25min eigentlich nur gefestigte Straße, falls das wichtig ist.
