Hello all, I’ve been getting into cycling these past couple months, but it appears it’s cross country training season now, and I’ve been seeing the typical shirtless skinny teens running around the neighborhood. Fine, no problem as long as they stay out of my way and I stay out of theirs. Only problem, is that often times they run in the right-side bike lane, towards the oncoming bike traffic. Not only does this cause trouble for the cyclists, but they literally have 2 vacant sidewalks they could use. Is this road rules, or are they just not abiding?

Losing motivation to ride

Hey all. I'm a young guy who is really passionate about cycling, especially in a transportation context. Only problem is that I live in the American suburbs with no bike infrastructure at all. I don't own a car right now and it's been hard to commute the 10 miles back and forth to my college and a similar distance to my girlfriend's house. I live in a pretty hilly area as well, and my bike definitely does not have a low enough gear for hills as I only have a 3 speed hub. It's crushing to have to ride on the side of the road beside high speed traffic while fearing right turn lanes and slip lanes along the stroads near my town. I own an ebike as well, but that has it's own unique issues. In general I prefer to ride my acoustic bike. Overall, I really enjoy riding my bike, but the hostile area I live in combined with the steep hills has really worn me down as of late.

Hi! For some context, I am overweight (83kg) so not in a great shape, but I've been riding my bike to work 4 times a day for the last weeks. (14mn in the morning, 14mn x2 before and after lunch break, and 14mn at the end of the day) I do 1 hour of dancing on Tuesdays and Wednesdays which makes me work a lot on thighs, so I thought I would get used to biking and it would need less effort but it never feels easy. Is it because I still need to lose weight? Or maybe I am not in a good position on my bike? The roads are pretty flat so I don't think that's it. I remember biking in Amsterdam and it felt like a breeze... I'll take any piece of advice ! Thanks !! EDIT: Please don't call me out for being stupid as I pretty much feel like it, as it turns out my tires were deflated...... Thanks for all your answers, I can't answer all of them but I got so many precious pieces of advice to get fitter! Thanks a bunch! (PS: mn stands for minutes, pardon my French.. literally!)

How do I maintain a bike?

Hello. I am buying a new single-speed city bike for college. This is the first time I am going back to cycling since I was a kid so I know nothing about bike maintenance. I want to do right by my bike and keep it maintained and safe so that I can use it for a couple of years. I looked at videos on YouTube of bike maintenance but they all involve high level bike disassembly, pressure washing replacing cables etc. I will be living in a dorm so I cannot be doing these sort of things. For big repairs I will take it to the shop to be serviced by a professional. However, what I want to ask is, what are simple and easy things to do to keep my bike maintained that do not involve much disassembly and do not risk damaging the bike? Also how do I know if something needs replacing? Can you share any good videos?

Möchte mir demnächst das Kryptonite Evolution 4 1090 holen und hab etwas Sorge wegen des Transports. Der Kaventsmann ist ja 90 cm lang und drei Kilo schwer, ich bin mir daher unsicher, ob ich den an der Sattelstütze gut festmachen kann. Rucksack möchte ich nicht immer mitnehmen. Wie habt ihr das gelöst? Um den Hals oder Körper hängen kommt für mich aufgrund der Verletzungsgefahr nicht in Frage.

Hallo, ich möchte mir ein neues Fahrrad kaufen womit ich zur Arbeit pendeln kann (ca. 7-8km) und womit ich auch mal länger Touren machen kann. Jetzt habe ich aber überlegt, wenn ich das Fahrrad mal zur Reise mitnehmen will, sagen wir mal in einem Fahrradkoffer im Zug oder im Auto in den Kofferraum rein, dann kann man schlecht einfach die Reifen abmontieren damit es besser passt. Wegen den Schutzblechen und Gebäckträgern wird es ja dann doch etwas aufwendiger es ab- und anzumontieren. Hat jemand erfahrung mit so etwas gemacht? Oder wäre es besser ein normales Gravel Bike zu kaufen und dann einfach Lichter mit Batterie/Akku dran zu machen fürs Pendeln zur Arbeit.

Ich suche einfach solide Laufräder, die gut laufen und wenig Probleme machen. Dass ich ich dem Preisbereich keine Ultraleichtgewichte erwarten kann weiß ich, aber nicht all zu schwer wäre natürlich cool. Moin liebe Community, Ich wollte mein Gravel in Zukunft upgraden auf ne Gabel mit anschraubpunkten. Ich fahre momentan ein Bulls daily grinder, welches ich nun schon komplett umgebaut habe. Nun sind ja die meisten Aftermarket Gabel aus Carbon und da machen mir meine 125 kg schon große Sorgen, Vorallem mit zusätzlichen Gepäck. Hat jemand nen Tipp für ne gute Gabel mit anschraubpunkten die höhere Lasten aushalten? LG
