So I do abt a 15k-30k ride every week day or atleast 4 days from Monday - Friday depending on how cold / rainy itis in the morning and meetings at work. Some weekends I do a 100k ride, this weekend I did a 134k ride, but generally like a 50k ride or something. My wife thinks I am overdoing it as someone she knows died of a heart attack at 39 years old and that person did over exercise and lost a lot of weight. I have upped the ante a bit in the last 2 months. I have lost abt 5 kg weight and my belly has reduced a lot. I always ride alone and never in a group.

I ride and run a lot (10-20 hours a week in the summer). I am usually training for something, so my time can be very regimented at times, but not always. I spend a good chunk of time alone cause after work, training and long rides/runs I can be pretty zapped and just want to chill pretty hard. Due to this, I feel like my social life has changed and some friends have stopped reaching out. Part of it makes me feel bad and miss the social time with these people, but the other side knows I am taking care of myself ands doing what I love. I see my endurance athlete friends on my rides/runs, so that also cuts into my available social time due to being an introvert and needing to mentally recharge. Anyone else in my camp? Or how else has cycling changed your personal life, for better or worse?

Not sure what I am hoping to find here. Maybe advice, maybe sympathy. Maybe some much deserved ridicule. So I have posted here quite a bit in the last few weeks. I was in the market for a new roadbike, my first ever dedicated one. I come from mountainbiking, and have been riding a road converted gravelbike (Trek Checkpoint ALR 5). Since I figured its time for a real one. Well, after A LOT of research, I landed on the [Vitus Vitesse Evo Rival AXS](https://vitusbikes.com/products/vitus-vitesse-evo-rival-etap-axs-road-bike-rival-07e7) (online brand, so could not test it). And what can I say. I don’t like it. There are a few (what I think are) legit reasons. * The fit does not agree with me. I thought I could handle something more aggressive than my checkpoint. I have had lower back issue (“flat back”) since childhood. Its been fairly decent lately, so I did not consider it much in the decision. Well, its made itself known again. I know, a bikefit and core workout could help. But not sure how much money I want to invest in this bike if I may sell it off soon (see next point) * The Rival AXS just did not wow me. I don't know what I was expecting, but certainly an upgrade from my current GRX 600. Sure, I bought into the hype. And it was actually harder to find a decent spec’d road bike with mechanical drive trains. But I was still hoping for some shifting improvement. My GRX600 is smoother, has a lower bail out gear, handles compensatory shifts (RD and FD at the same time) way better, and the top gear ratio is about the same. Sure, I could upgrade from Rival to Force, but that's more money spent here. There may be many reasons in favour of electronic shifting, but I don't think I have a problem that it solves. This one is entirely on me. I should have tested the AXS beforehand, which I was about to. But then I saw a sale on this bike and “had to” go for it. Overall, it's not a bad bike. I like the more playful nature and the carbon weight. And sure, over time I might get used to the AXS. And other issues could - could! - get fixed with a bikefit. But what makes me regret the purchase is the price. I spend 3’300 USD/EUR on the bike, and I am just not wowed by it. I am not looking forward to riding it tbh. I might take out my Checkpoint to ride tomorrow instead (also to not potentially damage the new one, in case I do really want to sell it) And while I did not go into debt for this bike, it was still a big portion of my savings. So I kind of want it to be good. **Am I crazy for wanting to sell it literally a few days after getting it?** (I bought it online from a brand/store where I had really good experiences with MTBs in the past. But since I used it, they likely wont take it back). I reckon I would maybe lose 5% of what I paid for it, as I got it on a sale that has since ended. So overall, I paid 20% under retail. Curious to hear if you have ever experienced something similar?

I am not one to promote products or shill for any company but as someone who has often struggled heavily with eating enough on the bike I find these to be the perfect answer. Delicious, easy and quick to eat, very gentle on the stomach, and 37g of carbs per packet of 2 bars. My nutrition during rides has massively improved because of them. I didn't know about these until someone on this sub (thanks whoever you are, couldn't find the post) suggested them many months ago but at this point they are my go-to ride nutrition. Fig newtons, etc, will certainly work as well and have comparable nutrition but I'm a lazy bitch when it comes to ride prep so having these pre-packed in 2-bar packs just works for me. Previous I'd eat comparatively dry and crumbly Skratch or Clif bars and they tended to take me several minutes to eat on the bike. They are also a challenge to eat without sucking crumbs down my windpipe when I'm doing any sort of tempo intensity. The fig bars don't have that problem.

So, let's say I'm trying to push my own limit and going for 150 km. I can probably do that in one ride with just a few tiny 3-minute breaks for drinking/eating/toilet. Or should I put a 30 to 60 minute lunch break in the middle for my legs to recover? Or will they cool down too much? I personally never like long breaks and just keep going. Then with friends, they'll be joining for a 75 km ride. The same question. Is it personal preference or is it just good not to do any breaks longer than 10 minutes? Or maybe one longer break in the middle? What do you guys think?
