I applied for a job a while ago (don't particularly want it, but thought what the hell), and today received an email from the founder of the company responding to my application. He asked me a few questions, where I lived, salary expectations, and if I had a driving license/car. ​ I responded and answered and told him I don't have a car or a license, just my bicycle. He responded and said because of the office is remote and not near a train station, I'd need a drivers license. I told him the commute would be about 9 miles, which is about 2/3 of my current commute. No problem. ​ Isn't it ridiculous for him to make this assumption? I don't have a particular agenda for this post, just wanted to vent. Pissed me off that he would assume I'd need a car and not that I'd love to ride to work. ​ I'd understand if it was a necessity for the job (if I'd applied to be a driver for instance), but driving has no relevance to the industry I applied to. I don't want the job now, but I'd to tell him why I think he is so wrong. Dickhead! ​ Anyone else come across something similar? This is in the UK for context to anyone that cares. ​ ​ EDIT: Thanks everyone for getting involved in the comments. I love this community and the chats we have. I think I was pretty pissed off when I wrote the initial message, but thanks to everyone in the comments below for helping me take a more balanced view of things. ​ A few additional notes. \- A few people are giving me legal(ish) advice - appreciate the comments but this is not the route I am going down! \- The original job description does not mention anything about a car (I will email him and tell him to add it). \- The 'remote' job is not that remote, it's just difficult to get to on public transport. ​ Ride safe everyone! xxx

So first off, I've done my best to comb through posts similar to this and didn't quite find what I was looking for. If this question has already been answered, apologies. Feel free to point me in the right direction. ​ I'm looking to buy a new road bike. I'm a pretty avid rider, putting in between 20-150 miles a week (usually a couple 20-30 mile rides in the evenings and a 50-60 mile ride on the weekend) on a single speed Masi that I have beaten to hell in the five years since I got it. I'm looking to get a 7/10/11/21/etc speed road bike and getting some contradictory advice online as to my best course of action. ​ I'm looking to continue with my present riding schedule with the idea of eventually going on longer/multi day rides/short touring in the future. I'm semi handy with the mechanics, meaning I can change a tire/tube and take a chain on or off, but that's about it. ​ Is it worth it to get a professional bike fitting for $150-300, depending on the service? Is mocap worth it, or does that only make sense if I'm compet ing professionally or in a triathlon? ​ Am I better off looking for a local bike shop or getting a bikes direct bike and either assembling it myself or having someone at a local bike shop take care of that for me? I'm in the LA area so there's no shortage of local bike shops, but I don't have any strong affinity toward any of the ones around me that I've been to for regular maintenance/etc. ​ I don't care if the bike has some cosmetic damage or is a couple years old, but I'm a little reticent to buy used if I'm putting this much money down. If there was a program similar to certified pre-owned cars, I wouldn't be opposed to that but I'm not aware of such a program existing. ​ Thanks in advance for your help on this.
