Was nearing the end of a long, hard ride in very windy conditions (40 km/h) and started getting terrible pain shooting down one of my shoulders. Kept taking my hand off one of the handlebars to try and shake it out and stretch while still riding. Next thing you know a huge gust of wind hits and knocks me right off my bike and onto the gravel (was on a trail thankfully). Wasn't even going particularly fast maybe 25 km/h. Was blood everywhere and had a huge gash under my chin. Luckily didn't hit my head as my white helmet looked pristine. Biked the 15 km's home with blood pouring everywhere and then went to the hospital to have it stitched up as the cut was quite deep. Other than that and some small scraps and cracks on my Garmin watch I got out unscathed but could have been much worse. Please everyone remember when riding in fall, windy conditions to always KEEP TWO HANDS ON THE BIKE AT ALL TIMES !!!!!! Simply reaching into your back pockets to grab some food can cause you to lose balance if a big gust hits even for experienced riders.

So I got a new road bike a few weeks ago, and I've put in roughly 150-200 miles on it. How often should I do some sort of maintenance on it to make sure everything is staying in good condition. I notice a slight squeak/hum when I'm riding as well and not to sure what the problem may be. Not affecting my riding or anything, but I'd just like to address and fix any problems in case they get worst. Any advice appreciated. Thanks :)
