Hey everyone,I'm a relatively new cyclist and a university student. I was the fittest I've ever been until I got into an severe accident last Friday - I was on the university campus and the bell just rang so people were coming out of class and it was quite crowded (skateboards, scooters, pedastrians, cyclists). There is this main road which is just a straight line, and the only way you enter this road is that you ride downhill from either end. I've biked this road hundreds of times because there aren't many pedestrians on it, but on this day, there was a few. All I can remember was that I was going around 15 mph on my side of the road and then this skateboarder comes out of nowhere and we have a head-on collision. I was knocked unconscious for 90 seconds and then I woke up to an ambulance. The skateboarder didn't have a helmet (I did) and was ambulanced away to the hospital - where he stayed until the next morning. I was so high on adrenaline where I didn't even noticed I completely fractured my jaw, and declined the ambulance. An hour later, I took a taxi to the ER where they told me that I suffered a bad concussion (hence loss of memory of the accident) and told me about my broken jaw. In hindsight, I'm really lucky it wasn't worse - I underwent surgery to wire my jaws completely shut for the next few months so I can't open my mouth (this is to hold the jaw still so it can heal and reconnect as there was no shifting in my jaw bone, just a complete crack). I tried to get in contact with the police about the other student I hit, but they said the reporting officer in charge of the case is extremely busy and will get back to me. Cycling gives me so much happiness (it's the thing i looked forwards to every day) and I'm just so distraught that I somehow got into this accident. I have cycled hundreds of miles a week before this, and I know risk is present in everything but I try to minimize it by wearing my helmet, staying on my side of the road, signaling, etc. I just don't know if I should return to cycling once my jaw reheals. I just want to be able to cycle again with the same passion, but now I feel so worried by this fear - like my life might end on the bicycle because I wasn't safe. I know I can be safe and being safe is not hard, but I'm just so shaken up. I see other students on campus not wearing helmets and zooming through people like it's nothing, and I don't know how to feel anymore. Anybody else ever gone through a similar experience please let me know how you deal with this, and how I should approach cycling in the future

Bike noob here. I have the Domane AL3 disk 2022 and wanted to put gravel tires on. Bought gravel king ss+ 38mm online, took it to a repair shop. Paid them to put them on my bike which required a 'tubeless conversion' since it already had a tubed road tyres on. Some taping and getting in fluid, etc. Took it out for a ride... and the first thing I notice is the white fluid leaking all over the tires. I thought this might be normal so kept on going. 45 mins in more fluid leaks out and tyre is completey deflated without puncture. Had to uber back home. Next day I took the bike back to the shop and told them about it. The owner tells me it must be the tires not fitting the wheels, and I need to pay him to do a 'tape modification' to make the wheels to fit the tires. So I left the bike there to do the mod. On my way back home I'm thinking... if the tires don't fit why did he agree to put them on in the first place? But then again I know nothing about bikes. Am I getting ripped off out of my ignorance, or is tire not fitting wheels a common problem in the cycling world? ----------- UPDATE: Thanks all for your advice! I've called the repair shop today and asked about the prop Bontrager TLR Rim Strip. Owner says it's a sales tactic by Trek and is not necessary. Thought it's BS so decided not to proceed with the 'tape mod'. Instead will be getting the prop rim strips and finish the job myself.

I recently got a set of Bontrager Aeolis Pro 51's on my 2018 Emonda. I'm also using GP5000 tyres. I've been loving them, but one thing I notice about them is that it is so fucking difficult to get the tire off and on when I need to change a tube. I've had to call for a ride TWICE due to punctures and not being able to get the tired back on myself. Even my LBS said that these wheels, since they are tubeless read, are one of the toughest wheels to work on just due to how tight they fit. Is a tubeless setup worth it in this situation? I seriously cannot call my wife for another ride lol.

Hallo liebe RadfreundInnen! Ich habe mir im Zuge des Diebstahls meines letzten Fahrrads ein Alarm Schloss besorgt, genauer gesagt das Abus BORDO Big Alarm 6000KA in 120cm für ca 150€. Ich war wirklich voller Hoffnung dass dieses Ding mir alles in allem meine Kopfschmerzen und Angst um mein Fahrrad nimmt. Leider sieht es aber aus wie folgt. Ich besitze dieses Schloss jetzt seit ca einer Woche und ich hab es bereits eine handvoll Male beim Aufschließen selbst versehentlich ausgelöst. Es ist wirklich KRASS empfindlich. Ich hab echt ne ruhige Hand und gebe mir extrem viel Mühe das Ding nicht zu bewegen aber selbst die allerkleinste Regung löst den Warnalarm aus. Ich bin sicher sogar der Wind könnte das Ding zum ausrasten bringen. Meine Recherchen führen dazu dass es keine Empfindlichkeitsregulierungen gibt. Plus! Der eigentliche Alarm hat zwar angeblich 100 Dezibel, ist aber meiner kurzen Erfahrung nach nicht so laut dass es Leute aus ihren Häusern holt. Als Abschreckung sollte es aber reichen. Denkt ihr das soll so mit der Empfindlichkeit? Oder hab ich da ein schwarzes Schaf erwischt? Ich hab durchaus schon Erfahrungsberichte darüber gelesen und nichts von einer übermäßigen Empfindlichkeit gelesen. LG

Hey everyone, Recently got into the tour de france roleplay scene and I finally worked my way up to my first 50km ride. My fitness has really improved but as I increase distance I am starting to get really bad chaffing issues. I read online about the best chamois cream and tried chamois buttr, but it didn't seem to help at all. Am I doing something wrong?
