Do you guys think the NYC mayor should ban cars completely in certain sections of Manhattan? Curbed has a great [article](https://ny.curbed.com/2019/10/3/20896837/nyc-traffic-history-pedestrian-cars) from October 2019 discussing the benefits of banning cars but from a cyclist perspective I think it makes sense. Force those entering the city to grab a Citibike or encourage those entering Manhattan to cycle in. I ride a Canyon Endurance AL 7.0 everyday in Central Park and the only thing worse than the congestion of people is dodging NYC traffic. How many of you would like to see cars banned in areas of NYC?

Hey guys so as the title says I'm a 19-year-old guy and I never learnt how to ride a bike. My bike was stolen when my parents first bought it when I was a kid and we never really had the money to replace it. But in September I'm returning to university and being able to ride a bike will make my commute times so much shorter. I had a few questions for you guys: 1) Is from now until September enough time to learn how to ride a bike and be road ready? 2) What's a good cheap bike I can buy as a beginner that's easy to ride and can use on roads? (sorry if this is a stupid question and/or doesn't make any sense I'm new to this). I'm in the UK by the way. 3) I don't have anyone to teach me so are there any good YouTube channels I can use to help me learn? Thanks :))

Hi, this is my first real post and I'm hoping there's maybe some help here. Last night, I got up around 4am, and I was looking at my beautiful bike in the house, which I last rode in November last year. I said to myself, "I don't want to ride a bicycle anymore." I got a little down, almost hopeless, thinking about the last time I felt happy riding a bike. I am 44 now. I weigh 286lbs. I'm about 5'9". I have no wife, no children, and I live alone in my house, in a peaceful neighborhood. I honestly never thought in my life I would be thinking this way after all the years I rode BMX, Mountain biking, road biking. I wanted to go bicycle touring for a long time, but I come up with excuses not to do it, even after buying expensive equipment for the tour. Now, it just feels like a huge waste of money. Bikes, parts, clothing, tools and equipment all collecting dust. I had a fall when I was 30 on a construction site. I fell five storeys off the edge of a building, and I ended up in hospital to correct severe nerve damage down my spine. I lost all my feeling down my right leg, buttocks, and penis as a consequence from the fall, and I now have Cauda Equina Syndrome. Since then, I felt kind of scared to get on the bike. But I did try joining a cycling club. When I joined the club, I couldn't climb up the country hills out of my seat, so I had to wiggle the handlebars back and forth to get myself up. Frequently, I lost my breath, and since I have a non-firing right calf muscle, it's...Difficult. Look, I don't know if this is the right place to ask about this. But I really feel like giving up on cycling. The weight, the weakness, the fear, and the uncertainty is making me feel less like a human being. Can you help? Thanks.

Moin moin. Ich plane in eine andere Stadt zu radeln (100km entfernt, ezpz) und dort ein paar Tage zu bleiben. Die Tour würde ich mit einem Rennrad machen und muss für den Zeitraum was zum Anziehen mitnehmen. Brauche nicht viel, aber eben sowas wie Straßenschuhe, ein Paar Flip-Flops, Hose, Oberteil, T-Shirts, Unterwäsche, Hygienekram, Ersatzschlauch, etc. Rucksack nervt zu sehr also interessiere ich mich für Radtaschen. Für jemand mit Bikepacking-Erfahrung: wenn du für mein Vorhaben nur eine Art Tasche haben könntest, welche wäre es? Speziell geht es eher um Sattel- vs Rahmen- vs Lenkertasche aber Modell- bzw. Markenempfehlungen sind auch gut. Ich habe einen klassischen Diamantrahmen aus Stahl in 56cm und STI shifter mit Wäscheleinen. Leider kann ich ausserdem schlecht einschätzen, was für ein Volumen ich brauche. Da könnte ich aber notfalls auch einfach mehrere Größen bestellen, Probepacken, und was zu groß bzw. zu klein ist zurück schicken. Wär cool wenn jemand ein paar Tipps hat.

My bike rack saved my bike

I am currently moving across the country for a job (not my first time, but with the bonus challenge of global pandemic) and since we don’t have a permanent place to stay yet I decided to take my bike instead of having the movers take it. This drive will take us 4 days, and yesterday was the first day and we stopped in a small southwestern town. We left my bike on the rack since it has a lock, and a sterlite tub with my school stuff on the roof rack. My husband went out to the car this morning to find my bike undone and the rack opened (pulled out so we can open the hatch on my car). The tub of school stuff was on the ground very clearly having been rummaged through, and we suspect they messed with the cat food that was also up there. The only thing that saved my bike was the lock holding it on the rack, and the lock that held it in the hitch. Also the fact that my school stuff is only valuable to me. If you’re looking for a rack, especially if you travel a lot, PLEASE spend the extra money to buy a rack with a lock. My bike would probably only have a $100-$200 resale value so I didn’t think anyone would touch my neon orange baby. I was wrong. And I’m forever grateful for that lock.
