The bicycle is playing an increasingly major role in the European recovery plans. The Italian region of Lombardy, one of the most relevant economic areas of Europe, has been the latest to announce a great budget to promote cycling: 115 million euros exclusively allocated to stimulate cycling over the next year.

I was on my way home from my usual route and was making a left turn at an intersection. As I continued down the road a car drove by and a guy yelled out, "Hey bro, nice ass!" and drove off laughing. I was pretty startled since I'm kind of always focused on the road, but I quickly registered what had happened. Out of sheer luck we met at the next stoplight. I pulled up to his window and said "Hey thanks man, don't get too many compliments out here." He looked pretty embarrassed and drove off as soon as the light turned green. I got a good laugh out of that encounter and made my way home. What is probably the most surprising for me is that this has been my first exchange of words while riding rather than being heckled for riding too slow or taking a lane.

So I made a post a few hours ago asking what the benefits are of wearing cycling glasses, because I've never worn them nor felt the need to wear any sort of thing for my eyes on rides. I got many good comments from wearers getting their eyeballs saved from stuff that happens somewhat often on rides. Like getting rocks flung up from other rides, bugs, other random things, bugs, etc. I am certainly going to wear something for my eyes now. I am glad I asked. It just makes sense. Bin zu 300,- Strafe verurteilt worden, zu zahlen an den Nabu. Kurz vorher wurde meinem Anwalt gesagt, dass die Richterin nicht gut drauf ist und wir besser kleine Brötchen backen sollen. Daher riet mir mein Anwalt sofort das Angebot über die 300€ anzunehmen. Die Staatsanwältin war kaum Zwanzig und hat aus dem Buch abgeschrieben, wahrscheinlich aber auch besser für mich. Die meiste Zeit ging für Geplänkel zwischen meinem Anwalt und der Richterin drauf. Was ich aus der Sache mitnehme. Wenn man kein Geld hat, sollte man besser auf sein Recht verzichten. Ausserdem ist es nicht wert, auf der Straße sein Recht zu erkämpfen. Der Typ hat jetzt meine Adresse, zusätzlich zu der Bestätigung, dass es in Ordnung ist Radfahrer zu dooren, genau wie er es mir angedroht hat und ich habe knapp 900€ Schulden. Außerdem haben die Richter, die ich bis jetzt erlebt habe, einen absoluten Autoritätskomplex. Keine Konversation ging aus, ohne dass die Richterin am Ende das letzte Wort hatte. Auch wenn sie nur wiederholt hat, was mein Anwalt gesagt hat. Aber an Tatsachen ist keiner interessiert, die Sachlage wurde nicht mal angesprochen. Übrigens hat der Typ, der mir die Tür ins Gesicht gerammt hat, seine Auslagen ersetzt bekommen, natürlich mit einem Grinsen im Gesicht. Die Zeugin, die ich benannt hatte war übrigens auch gekommen(mein Anwalt hatte sie noch erreicht), wurde aber aufgrund mangelndem Interesses, wie alle anderen Zeugen nicht gehört. Dann war die Verhandlung aber auch schon in 15mins vorbei. Der Polizist, der meine Anzeige NICHT aufgenommen hat, war auch recht redseelig und hat noch mit der Richterin gescherzt, als er sich seine Ausgaben erstatten lies. Alles anscheinend sehr amüsant, wenn man mit so einer Scheiße durchkommt. An dieser Stelle auch noch ein dickes Dankeschön an den ADFC, der mir in der Sache viel Glück gewünscht hat! PS: Abgesehen davon, niemand außer mir im ganzen Gerichtsgebäude hat eine Maske aufgehabt oder irgendwelche Abstandsregeln eingehalten. Überall waren zwar Schilder mit "Masken sind erwünscht" usw. aber das wars auch schon. Dafür war eine große Traube von Menschen am Eiswagen, der keine 2m neben dem Eingang parkte. Die Richterin hat nicht mal lange Hosen angehabt. Und ich bin vorher extra noch zum Friseur und hab mir ein Hemd und eine Maske gekauft LOL EDIT: Tut mir leid, wenn sich dass alles ziemlich negativ anhört, aber ich hab erstmal genug von dem scheiß Autoland DE. ______________________________________________________________________________________ Auf der positiven Seite. Ich habe gestern noch mein Rad zusammengebaut, nachdem ich von Mavic ein neues Hinterrad auf Garantie bekommen habe und kann jetzt endlich wieder selber radfahren :) Ein pressfit Lager hab ich auch noch zum ersten mal erfolgreich verbaut! Es ist zwar wirklich gerade viel zu warm aber immer noch besser als in der Hütte zu sitzen und depressiv zu werden, was mir zusätzlich zu der Anklage in den letzten Monaten noch sehr zu schaffen gemacht hat. Und da ich viel training aufzuholen habe, kann ich jetzt den ganzen Frust in meinen XC touren rauslassen, nur Straßen werde ich wohl noch eine Zeit lang meiden. PPS: Danke für die Auszeichnung Ü

ich musste noch eine Stunde fahren um Zuhause anzukommen und auf der häfte des Weges gingen einmal einfach so alle Lampen im Dorf aus. von jetzt auf gleich... später dann auf dem Radweg neben der Landstraße sehe ich was aus der Ferne was das erst dünn dann breiter wurde und dann auf einmal geblitzt hat. war nur eine Katze aber ich habe mich so erschrocken das dann irgendwann dann komplett nur noch auf der Straße gefahren bin. was auch wirklich eine gute Idee war weil im nächsten größeren Dorf verdammt viele ohne eigenes Licht zu Fuß gingen. bin immerhin Zuhause angekommen und konnte mich hinlegen. Edit: hatte auch echt gutes Licht das iq-x von bumm. Ein mulmiges Gefühl hatte ich dennoch hattet ihr auch schonmal solche Erfahrungen? würde mich interessieren.

For the past year or so ive been using my old mountain bike to get to my university but i've been considering making an upgrade to a road bike (around £600) I have a few questions about how much of a difference it makes. 1. how much faster can you go on a road bike than on a mountain bike? Before I got into parenthood, and before serious cycling, I was a denim-head. Used to have a whole rotation of expensive denim. But then parenthood came, a sedentary life, and extra pounds. Gained a few inches around the waist, and I packed all the denim up and put it in storage. Started wearing Old Navy. With the pandemic, I spent the last few months in sweat pants. Today, I went to throw on a pair of jeans and realized: this things don't fit. I could shimmy right out of them without undoing the fly. Today, I'm kinda proud to say, I fit into some denim that I honestly thought I'd never wear again but couldn't bear to throw away. It's some heavy weight selvedge and can't wait to get back to working on those sick fadez. **Now** I have to resist to urge to start buying more denim. As if I wasn't already checking for bike parts and jerseys almost every day.

Today I rode a nice 58 mile ride starting on a beautiful beachside flat and going into a solid climb. For those that know the area, it was from mid city Los Angeles down the Bayona Creek trail into the South Bay trial and up to Palos Verdes then right back. Did my second 50 miler- this time under 3hrs(17mph avg) which I’m stoked about. New to cycling because of COVID- and loving it. Haven’t been able to do any group rides for obvious reasons. Wondering how I am doing and what some good steps would be to improve. I still ride flat pedals- so I imagine switching to clipless is the natural progression.

I feel pretty silly about posting this but maybe others have some suggestions. My stomach is pretty sensitive and every day I would get up, have some food, cup of coffee and go to the bathroom in the next 45 minutes max. If I get up earlier than usually, I could have the food and the coffee but my stomach would probably not start working right away but wait until the usual time for it. So planning things in the morning is pretty annoying for me in general and planning cycling is even worse. I could get up early, have food and coffee but then I would get stuck waiting until I finally go to the bathroom. If I leave before, it will start working after a while and I will definitely have to go somewhere on the road. Which is a pain because I dont ride around places with public toilets nor do I carry a bike lock with me. Due to my stomach being sensitive, I cant really eat something just to get it going - because then it wont stop at just once :D I read somewhere that trying to do some activity ( walking up and down the stairs, doing jumping jacks etc. ) would help get your metabolism working. Any other good ideas ? I would really like to get in a routine of going cycling early mornings before work but this is just making me nervous to the point that I never even try.

Hi, kurz zur Hardware: Focus Jam 6.7 mit Magura MT5 Bremse Vorne. Nabe ist eine Novatec D041. Problem tritt sowohl mit Magura HC Storm als auch Reverse Bremsscheiben auf. Problem ist folgendes: Die Scheibe schleift an einer Stelle immer an den Bremsbelägen. Das deutet eigentlich auf einen Schlag in der Scheibe hin, allerdings ist die Scheibe perfekt plan (Auf einem Glastisch getestet). Ich habe die Scheibe trotzdem ausgetauscht (u.a. auch, weil die MT5 in Kombination mit den HC Storm Scheiben immer laut geklackert hat wie blöd, wenn ich gebremst habe) . Das Schleifen ist mit der neuen Scheibe aber genauso vorhanden. Das bedeuted für mich ja, dass die Aufnahme an der Nabe ja nicht 100%tig gerade sein kann und die Bremsscheibe minimal schief aufliegt. Die Frage ist nun, was ich dagegen tun kann? Kann ich mit kleinen Unterlegscheiben auf einer Seite probieren den Schlag auszugleichen oder ist das keine gute Idee? Probieren, die Unebenheit mit einer Feile zu beseiten? Eine neue Nabe kaufen wäre die letzte Option, da ich ja dann das Rad komplett neu einspeichen muss.
