Every god damn time I decide to do a bike project I run into the dreaded issue of not having the correct tool. This time its a god damn mother fucking chain ring bolt tool. Even better is its something you can get off easy but not put back on without it. Could I use a work around probably, but its not worth anything going wrong. Because Ill either have to buy a new part or a 4th or 5th tool. Some day when I own a 6 car garage Ill have the room to store every fookin tool I need to causally work on my bikes. This is why having a bare minimum of two bikes is basically a requirement if you do not have a personal bike mechanic. Also why am I stupid enough to think I can slap a bike back together hours before a group ride. What a dumb ass. I won't even get started on ordering ill fitting parts. I feel like I need a degree in unwritten bicycling rules just to buy anything that is not tires or tubes. Oh that is Santeria Threaded, you need an combination of a 37.79mm wrench which park tools does not sell anymore and the blood of a freshly killed all white chicken to get that out. Oh and no one sells new ones. So hopefully its not pitted. Unless it was pre-1980s ish kinda. Then its a reverse threaded Austrailan gapped tooth. Then you can only work on it upside down. The next time a company tries to make a new bottom bracket standard we need to riot. I will no longer stand by idly as Mr. Sram And Mr. Shimano actions stand in the way of the average cyclist. This is no longer a rant this is a call to action. The military should be brought in. I want them on trial. We know the system is rife with rot........ Okay maybe I'm getting into the territory where I'm going to get myself on a list. TLDR: Watch how to videos before you do stuff so you know you have the right tools and parts.

i’ve been struggling with my mental health, and biking nearly everyday helps me cope with the intrusive thoughts and other problems. my issue is that i live in a very rainy city, and i’m worried that the weather will severely affect how i ride. i’m not exactly a novice, but i don’t have much experience with biking in the winter. i’m looking for advice on how to safely cycle and prevent injury during these rainy months. gear suggestions are also welcomed and appreciated. i hope this request isn’t too stupid, but i’d like to be more informed on how i can make the most of my winter trips. thanks edit: thank you for all the advice, everyone! i’ve been feeling pretty stressed out about the upcoming winter weather. i’m trapped in a small studio, so sometimes my brain gets a little messy. i’m definitely going to look into all of those gear suggestions. i appreciate the kindness and lack of judgement so much - i really needed some positivity today. edit two: wow, i totally didn’t expect this many comments. thank you for all the support. 💘

Carbon Frameset Suggestions

Hey guys, looking to do my first build with 105 components and novatec wheels from my current bike that I swapped out. I need another bike I can train on (road) so that if my daily rider goes down or gets maintenance I'm not SOL. I need to be able to throw a pm on the bike and train but not entirely opposed to this being a gravel or gravel road hybrid like the two below. I really like the [Ribble CGR](https://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/ribble-cgr-sl-frameset/) (back ordered) and [Cinelli King Zydeco](https://www.cinelli-usa.com/king-zydeco-frameset/) (expected 3/21) frames but curious what else is out there. I like the loud and fun paint jobs but that isn't entirely necessary. If I could get the frameset for $1200 that would be great but I'm okay going up to about $1600. Any suggestions? If it helps I now ride a '19 Pinarello GAN with Sram Force 22. &#x200B; Thanks in advanced!!

Help me ride and comply with a mask mandate

My state now has a mask mandate that recently went into effect and requires a mask to be worn at all times in public. No exceptions. I'm trying to figure out how/if I can do my usual Sunday morning solo bike ride ~~on deserted suburban roads.~~ Adding a mask makes this significantly less feasible. I want to be able to wear a mask and keep riding. I've tried this in the past and ran into two major problems: 1. My glasses *will* fog up. I've tried the usual tricks. Shaving cream, tighter mask over the nose, "cat crap", etc and none of them have been effective in providing any meaningful reduction in fogging. Any time I breathe heavy with the mask on my glasses fog up. 2. I'm unable to breathe effectively while riding at anything above a moderate heart rate. My experience has been that the mask fabric gets wetted and "clogged" from my exhalation and then becomes too restrictive. Yes, I tried a neck gaiter buff thingy, intended for cycling, and had the same problem. I've seen masks advertised for exercise with exhaust valves on them. These let you bypass the mask when you exhale and are not suitable for use in a pandemic. If you have something that works, please share it. I want to be able to wear a mask and keep riding. edit: I'm not interested in "pull it up as needed." thanks. The goal is to find a way to meet the requirements.
