A professional bike fit is pretty costly in my area so I never had it done, but I think I shall definitely be investing, and hopefully they'll help me resolve all the issues. I love cycling, but up until I got interested in triathlons and sport cycling, I used to ride almost an upright bike with a silicone seat, all very comfortable. Now that I got a road bike the pain is unbearable. Leaning forward means I sit right on the vulva. While I am getting slowly used to the pain on the pelvic bones and the bruises around that area, the pain of the pressure on the labia is too much. It gets super sensitive and I almost feel I am getting blisters and peeling on the inner lips. I've got the really good padded shorts (tried a couple), but for rides longer than 20 mins they seem useless. Is it possible to change the seat shape? Will that help? I just want to enjoy cycling and not cry from the pain. Thanks for any advice.

Alex Dowsett (World Tour rider for ISN) says in this [video](https://youtu.be/ta77pKf0afc) that pretty much all cyclists, including pro mechanics, set tyres up way too hard. He said this [calculator](https://info.silca.cc/silca-professional-pressure-calculator) will tell you what you should be running. I run 28mm tubeless Pirellis and weigh 76kg. Pirelli recommend 80psi (5.5 bar). The calculator tells me a hair over 60psi (4.1 bar). 30% is clearly a massive difference. If the measured width of the tyre seated on my rim were the same as the quoted width for the tyre, (ie 28mm), the calculator would recommend 80psi. Are you also running your tyres way too hard? Or am I the only one that never checked measured width and just relied on quoted width?

About a month ago I joined the wonderful world of cycling and decided, after much research, that my first bike should be a gravel bike as I would appreciate the flexibility of being able to ride it either on the road or on any of the amazing gravel trails in my general area (Northern California). I bought a 2021 Trek Checkpoint ALR5 w/ 700x40 gravel tires and have been loving every minute of it. Only, I realized after a month of consistent riding that I'm doing 95% of my miles on nice roads and lots of that it steep uphill and downhill. I'm now wondering how much I'm missing out on by riding this lovely gravel bike where possibly a dedicated road bike would be better? As a follow-up question, would it make sense to invest in a separate pair of road-focused wheels+tires that I could swap out? Maybe keep the 40's for gravel and get some 28's for road? &#x200B; Thanks!
