Lost an old friend, obligatory wear your helmet post.

Joey was 33, a couple of weeks younger than me. When he was just 10 or 11 he had a terrible accident on his bike which caused a major brain injury, from which he suffered detoriorated motor skills and seizures. He lived his life as positively and fully as possible and was one of the only ones in my high school friends group to get a college degree. But his seizures got worse as time went on and I'm sad to say he's no longer with us. He died at a youth function at his church surrounded by many of the kids and teens who grew to love him. Joey was a great guy, he was always positive and upbeat, I never heard him complain about his condition, but his accident as a kid greatly affected his quality of life for the past 20+ years and ultimately took him from his friends and family far too soon. Brain injuries are always ugly and there is NO recovery from them, if they don't kill you right away they will wreak havoc on your life and may still kill you later. Most people who agree with this won't need to be told but we could all use to strong reminders from time to time.. wear your helmet guys, every ride. Joey wasn't going particularly fast or being reckless, he just had a fairly typical little kid tumble on his bike but hit his head hard, and it could happen to any one of us.

Hey, Hello everyone. I'm Rens and i'm a 16 year old kid from the Netherlands. Since covid started i stopped with all my sports because i didn't had motivation to cycle. Then there was a charity action from my school for alphe d'huez and we had to or run 7km in 1hr 30mins or cycle 40km in 2hrs. I used to komoot to school everyday (20/25mins) and that was like my physical excercice every day. So when i started "Training" for the charity action i was 92kg heavy (1,80m). I started to enjoy the rides more and more and had an average of 22km/h for the big day. after that day i returned the bike to my neighbour and bought the GCN "SuperBike" sort of bike. I rode about 700km on that bike last summer and i started the moments we get as cyclist in life. ( I also got lost at the Veluwe one night and we got chased by cows. ) Right now 1 year and 2 months later i finally stood on the scale and i rn weigh 74kg. I am quite happy with the weight loss but i think i even get a bit lighter. I played "korfbal" for the last 12 years but i found that cycling is more my thing so after this month i get fully into road cycling and i like to become faster and faster (i now have a average of 28km/h for 2/3hrs) But hey. I just wanted to vent this to y'all and i am really happy that i borrowed the bike of my neighbour haha, Rens

Hat von euch schon mal jemand eine Gegenanzeige erhalten, nachdem er/sie online Anzeige erstattet hat? Wie ist das verlaufen? Im Prinzip steht Aussage gegen Aussage (außer der Autofahrer hat sich einen Zeugen herbeigelogen, Beifahrerin werte ich als "befangen"). Ich wollte ihn aber nicht mit seinem Verhalten davonkommen lassen. Rechtsschutz habe ich und werde ich morgen Vormittag kontaktieren. Kontext: ich wurde kurz nach dem Losfahren an einer Ampel in einer geschwungenen Kreuzung (leichte Linkskurve) von hinten angehupt und angepöbelt, ich solle an der Seite fahren. 20m später bin ich und der - nennen wir ihn Drängler - schon rechts abgebogen. In der Straße waren rechts parkende Fahrzeuge und ich bin entsprechend mittig in der Spur gefahren um Dooring zu vermeiden. der Drängler fuhr mit 20cm Abstand neben mich, kam immer näher und drängte mich in Richtung parkender Fahrzeuge. An einer Ampel holte ich ihn ein und durfte früher losfahren, wegen kluger separat geschaltener Fahrrad Ampel. Der Drängler überholte mich dann mit 50 km/h wieder nur mit einer Hand breit Abstand. Demnächst geht ja wieder das Stadtradeln los. Ich erstelle jedes Mal eine Gruppe für unsere Firma und bewerbe das Thema. Immer wieder werde ich gefragt: "Wozu eigentlich das ganze?" Wenn ich dann irgendwas über Aufmerksamkeit fürs Radfahren schaffen usw. erzähle, wird meist abgewinkt. Auch viele Radfahrer halten die Aktion für überflüssig, weil ja kein substantieller Mehrwert entsteht. Deshalb wollte ich hier mal einen Beitrag verfassen und erzählen, warum ich das Stadtradeln gut finde und daran teilnehme. Als ich das Stadtradeln zum ersten Mal in unserer Firma angeleiert habe, gab es mehrere Kollegen, die vorher sporadisch mit dem Rad gefahren sind, die plötzlich angefangen haben, täglich zu fahren. Ein anderen wollte sich beteiligen, aber nicht zur Arbeit Radpendeln. Also hat er jedes Wochenende eine kleine Radtour gemacht. Einige dieser Kollegen sind nachher auf mich zugegangen und haben mir zurückgemeldet, dass durch diese Aktion Fahrradfahren ihnen erst so richtig als valide Transportmöglichkeit ins Bewusstsein gerufen wurde. Tatsächlich ist auch der Anteil der Radpendler in unserer Firma leicht gestiegen. P.S.
