Still feel so shaken up, and just wanted to share. I was cycling around town as always, went to switch to a bike path from the road and there was a small curb that the bike got caught on. I fell to the side and smashed the handlebars into my right hand on the ground (was riding on tops). I was really scraped up (knees, shoulder, face and hands) but the right hand hurt extra bad so I went to the ER and… it’s broken. That means I’m in a cast for 6 weeks and no cycling. The last time I fell off my bike was 10 years ago, I thought that would never happen to me but here I am. Please wear helmets and enjoy the next six weeks for me!

I live in Vancouver and plan on riding my bike consistently throughout the upcoming rainy months. I use my bike to get around the city as needed as well as to go on some longer rides 20-100km. Don't plan on doing much off-roading or super hilly rides. I'm using a city bike I bought used for super cheap so it's not something that's worth spending loads of time maintaining. Most of the advice I find online seems like overkill for my bike and what I'm using it for so that's why I'm asking here. After a ride in the rain, it seems like a quick spray with a hose to remove debris is a good idea. I'm trying to figure out what parts to wipe down, if any, and how often to re-apply lube to the chain and/or cables and if I should use wet or dry lube.

Fahrrad
01. November, 15:04 Uhr

I'm Dutch and my German is really bad so I'm doing it in English, hope it's okay. Anyway, my bike was stolen so I want to buy a brand new one this time. I've heard good things about German made bikes, more specifically Stevens, Gudereit and Rabeneick. Stevens gets lots of positive reviews here in the Netherlands and they look well made. Gudereit is a small, family owned business as I understand it which I find quite appealing. What I can find in Dutch about Gudereit is also positive. Rabeneick is difficult to find info about in Dutch but I like the clean, minimalistic look. What I'm looking for in a bike is mainly for my daily commute to work with mud guards, good lighting and rear rack for my carrier bags. I don't mind a derailleur set up and I actually prefer it over Shimano 8 or 11 speed internal gear hubs. I don't like to sit upright, to lazy for my taste, so it has to be a sporty bike. Which one of these three would you recommend and why?

I might be wading into holy war territory, but what are people’s experience with having a power meter? I’m a recreational cyclist and probably won’t race any time soon, but I’m road biking to get in shape. Progressively increasing my mileage (just did 70 miles w 6k feet of climbing last weekend) and do like looking at stats to see performance, but most likely not going to do any structured training plans. Any one in a similar boat get a power meter? How do you use it? Thinking of getting the Assioma Duo Shi spindles to use with my SPD-SL pedals.

The UK hill climbing season is as short, sharp and intense as the climbs themselves. Racing runs from late August to the end of October, collapsing across the line at the UK National Hill Climb Championships. Fittingly, the timekeeper’s stopwatch bleeps for the final time on the eve of Halloween. Some of the pain faces displayed on Sunday would need little embellishment for Trick or...

So I am a lyft driver and because I take seroquel for bipolar 2 disorder I find it hard to lose weight. Starting today I'm starting a new workout routine. Bike for 1 hour at moderate speed. Walk for 1 hour at moderate speed. Swim for 1 hour. I'm currently at 182 and I would like to get back to 165 by now years day. If I do this routine along with lunges and 8 second body builders, do you think it is possible to get back to my fitness level when I was in the navy? If it helps I'm 5ft 8, 182, and 35.
