I saw a nice looking moisture wicking shirt online a little while ago with a giant logo of my local MLB team on the chest. I'm a fan of the team but not enough to buy much merch generally. But the price was right so I nabbed it. Had my first ride with it yesterday and it was shocking how polite the cars were! I was getting way more smiles and waves than typically and everyone was unusually patient. It probably helps that the team is playing well right now, but it felt like I unlocked a secret trick.

I switched to tubeless around Feb on two bikes because of everything I read on here about how convenient it is and how people are never changing flats. But there's been quite a few issues. 1. TLR tires are twice as expensive. 2. Sealant is expensive, probably more than tubes 3. Sealant seems to dissipate/spill very quickly w/ rim strips (WTB and Stans Race), around 2 months maybe. Don't live in super dry climate so idk what's going on. Almost an entire bottle of WTB 32oz and the Stans I replaced it with seems to have dried in a month and a half (although it is summer) 4. TLR tires can get snakebites (which I just found out) and can ruin a 70$ tire's main funtionality. 5. Plugs are a pain to work with and don't just seal the leak, have had to plug and replug and it takes almost as long if not longer than patches. 6. Sewing a tire takes way longer than just patching a tube and I've had to sew this new set of tires like 3 times and now 2 more if I'm going to try and fix this snakebite but it's right on the rim so I don't even know if it's a good idea. Also putting the tire back on the rim takes an crazy amount of effort. So yeah, idk tubeless hasn't been so great. Also idk what it is but since I've went tubeless, by chance or bad luck everytime I've had a leak or flat tire I'm missing one thing that I need to fix it and have to walk. Like yesterday, the one day I noticed my pump was gone and I get a flat. It's happened several times now. I generally carry everything to patch and the times where I don't bring anything I get a flat.

This may be one of the dumbest things I have ever done on a bike. I was in the parking lot having finished my ride, shut off my Garmin and was rolling to my car about 100 feet away. For reasons I’ll never know, I decided I also needed to shut off the workout on my Apple Watch. In reaching to do it, I twisted my front wheel so I was going directly towards a curb, locked up my front brakes (because the other hand was still futzing with the watch) and threw myself to the ground. I just missed a steel signpost and hit the ground in a grassy area, including my head. I have a slight headache, but really no damage. All of a sudden, everything starts beeping—my Garmin, my watch, my iPhone. I looked at the Garmin screen and it said it had sent an emergency notification to my wife. I got on the bike and rolled the 10 seconds over to the car. I’m still a little disoriented from the crash, tired from a (for me) long ride, trying to put the bike on the trunk rack, get my keys out to unlock the car so I can sit down, pull off my gloves, and get my phone out of the back jersey pocket. All the while everything is still beeping and all I can think is that my wife—who is a teacher—is freaking out over this message. By the time I turned off the alarms and pulled out the phone, she was calling me, so I was able to quickly reassure her I was fine and it was the stupidest “accident” ever. But at least I know that if it was more serious, the alert system works just fine ;-)

I have the typical skinny cyclist body type and decided I want a more aesthetic body, but I also don’t want to give up my bike to get big. I ride 5 days a week, I’m willing to do 10-15 miles 3 times a week. How should I schedule my lifting days with my riding days? I’ll do a Push/Pull/Leg routine 6 days a week (PPLPPLR). Since there are 2 leg days, I’m considering replacing one leg day for a cycling day, cycle on my rest day and cycle a few hours after a push or pull day. Is this too much? Please post your splits or advice if you can. I’m not cycling for competition or anything serious, I just love doing it, the rush and the great feeling after. I’m so bored at the gym, I can’t replace my bike with only weights.

I’ve gotten the opportunity to buy a bike that has been through the tdf back in 2017, with all components from then, for a very good price. But I know those bikes go through a lot in the short period they’re used, and thus I fear it’s “worn out”. It has a fault in the paint, that’s presumed to not be carbon, but other than that it looks perfect, especially for the price. Would you buy?

Hi, I just came back from a bike touring trip in Luxemburg, which is quite hilly. I loved every second of the climbs, but on the downhills I couldn’t just let go of the brakes. Every time I’d get over 35kmh, I would brake. It’s really weird because I’m comfortable riding up to 40kmh on the flats, but not on descents. As soon as I feel myself accelerating a lot, I start riding the brakes and only let go for small amounts of time and also when I can see the descent goes over into a flat road. I think it’s this feeling of accelerating that scares me? Anyways now I’m back in Flanders, where I live, and want to tackle this fear. I tried going down a steep short hill nearby, but just could physically not let go of the brakes all the way down, only when I see the end of the descent. This was especially impossible on the steepest bit. Has anyone had the same issue to this extent and how did you get over it? I’m trying to consciously relax my shoulders, stay calm and look further ahead. I know I should be trying to descend in the drops, but this feels scarier.
