I have a lead on my stolen bike!

My bike ( 2013 Marin Verona) was stolen earlier this year. Taken from my open garage while I was cleaning out my car. Police report was filed. Today, for no reason in particular I installed Facebook messenger and I noticed a woman had sent me a photo of my bike back in February! The message said: “ I recently purchased a bike which I believe is yours! I will send you a photo! I would prefer if we handle this amongst ourselves” Sweet! So I try contacting her, call several times no answer. I call several more times later in the day and eventually she picks up. This lady says she used to have my bike but it was stolen from her. This makes me very suspicious. I ask her who she bought the bike from and she says “ Oh, yeah, I’ll have to think about that I don’t remember”. 🧐 I told her the story didn’t make sense to me ( I probably shouldn’t have said that, I know but I was fuming) and she got very defensive. “Well I didn’t even have to send you the picture. And how many months has it been? And I don’t even think it was your bike.” She then hung up on me. I went to the police station and told them everything. I’m hoping they can do something. Updated my police report. I’m not that optimistic that I will get my bike back but it is a good lead to follow. Fingers crossed for me and the safe return of my first road bike.

'Supporting your LBS' is hard these days

I am in the market for a new aero frame. I really have zero need for a **DISC** brake bike as I live in FLAT AF Indiana. LBS has a few propel rim brake frames, but no way to test ride them whatsoever. Even testing a disc frame would take some waiting and working if its even possible. I honestly cannot understand how these guys expect to make money when they offer no advantage. I can get complete ultegra versions of the propel online for a comparable price to just the frame from my LBS. I cant test ride either of them so I got to wondering what advantages I would even have to purchasing from the B&M. /rant *edited rim to disc. sometimes I am a moron. **Update** I just talked to the mgr of the LBS who carry Giants and had a much more satisfying conversation than I initially had with the counter guys. I would be able to get a test ride but it requires a 20% non refundable deposit for the entire value of the complete bike. This is better than nothing I guess, but hard to say its better than purchasing from somewhere online with free shipping and 30 day returns. Their prices were also incorrect on the website and the rim frames are clearance priced down to ~1300 with a '16 and a '17 model available. Estimating roughly ~$2600 for ultegra and aeolus pro5 wheels / cheap bars and stem places us at ~$3900 for a complete build. This is much more competitive with online listings with the difference being mitigated by having warranties etc. Not a perfect solution, but a whole lot better than no test ride period and MSRP for old frames.
