I had a couple gift cards and Amazon cut the price on the Titanium Aftershox (which I believe is the lowest price version of the AfterShox line) so I pulled the trigger. I strongly believe in using bone conduction headphones over in-ear or on-ear headphones while cycling for safety reasons. That being said I have biked 50 miles in 5 hours with in-ear headphones without incident. Doesn't mean it's the right thing to do. Anyways, I unpacked these and tried them on last night and while I will keep them because of the whole safety thing, I'm super unimpressed with the sound quality. A $20 pair of true wireless earbuds from China beats these things without even trying. The lack of bass in the music is the real killer - even at higher volumes there is almost no bass response at all. If it was my own money, these would be returned. Since it was gift card money and I do want to bike safely (and bonus, the color matches my bike) I will keep them and use them. But man, what a bummer.

I recently got into road biking and to start, I got myself a cheap pair of bib shorts from amazon since I thought that the mainstream cycling brands were charging ridiculous prices for their bib shorts. However, I went on a two hour long ride the other day and when I got back home exhausted, I realized that there was definitely some pain and soreness around my sit bone area and I think the crappy padding in the cheap bib shorts is likely the culprit. I'm willing to correct my mistake and spend more money on a single pair of comfortable, lasting bib shorts that I can use every time I ride. I'd like to hear your recommendations and personal experiences with different brands so that I can choose the pair that's best for me. I'm willing to spend around $125 but am willing to work that up to $150-175 if it's worth it. Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi, ich habe ein altes Fahrrad, dass ich als "Bahnhofsrad" nutzen möchte. Also ein Fahrrad, dass ich auch guten Gewissens ein oder zwei Tage draußen stehen lassen kann, wenn ich ein TeilAuto abhole oder so. "Neue" Laufräder habe ich schon, die Frage ist jetzt nur, ob es sinnvoller ist den Antrieb auf Singlespeed oder auf 8-10 Fach Schaltung umzurüsten. Das Laufrad hat einen 8/9/10-fach Shimano Freilauf. Die Singlespeed Kits, die ich gefunden habe, kosten 20+ € und Kettenspanner sind auch nicht ganz billig. 9-Fach Schaltwerk und Schalthebel habe ich auf eBay-Kleinanzeigen für 20 € gefunden. Ich weiß also nicht, ob Singlespeed wirklich günstiger ist. Was wäre eure Empfehlung? Edit: Einsatzort ist Leipzig, also sehr flach.

I started road cycling just over a year ago (Oct 2020) and it’s my new obsession! It has been super cool to see and feel my gains over the last year. I recently signed up and completed my first race. It was the Tour de Tucson in Tucson, AZ. 102 mile race with about 3,000 ft in elevation. It’s probably the biggest bike event in AZ with thousands of riders participating in different distance races. I had a goal of finishing the race in 5 hours, which would get me a “Platinum” finishing time. I have done 1 other century this year with plenty of breaks with the main goal to just complete the 100 miles. I was stoked to complete my goal and felt pretty good and strong for most of the race. Although I am stoked with my performance it was also a great leaning experience on how I could do it better next year, as well as a test of my fitness and mental capacity. I just wanted to share my experience with this community which I have learned a lot from this past year. Thanks for reading and keep riding safe everybody!! Stats for those interested. Distance: 101.8 Miles Elev Gain: 3104 Ft. Total Time: 4:39 Ride Time: 4:39 Avg. Speed: 21.8 MPH Edit: Excuse my newbness but apparently it’s not a “race” but a Gran Fondo. Some people treat it as a race and they are recognized on a podium and what not. I know everyone has different goals at an event like this. Thanks for the clarification.

Noob cyclist here, so sorry for the incredibly dumb question, but I googled a bit and didn't find a clear answer. I have the saddle fitted correctly according to my leg length, and I set the flats of the handlebars level with the saddle as per basically every recommendation I've read online. When I ride in this position, I'm putting a lot of my weight on the bars, and it means if I take a hand off I find it hard to ride in a straight line because my weight is shifting to the left or right side of the handlebars. I'm guessing it's just because my core strength is complete crap, and I need to do planks/crunches, but just to get an idea of how it's *supposed* to feel - are you guys all riding with your hands just resting lightly on the bars? How much pressure am I supposed to be putting on the handlebars when riding smoothly?
