•Carbon isn't everything, I've been riding for 7 years and have rode both carbon and aluminum. I am getting a new road bike and it will be carbon. Reason being, the aluminum version hasn't been in stock for 1.5 years and won't be shipped this year. Aluminum is often great value compared to its carbon counter parts. • "never go lower than 105" is nonsense. I used Tiagra for over 5 years and would use it again. Reasons to us Tiagra as a new rider: 10 speed provides a great gear range, most upgrade wheels are 10 speed compatible, breaking a Tiagra component is much cheaper to replace than anything above it. I would buy a bike with Tiagra again (if they ever come back in stock) • "your fitness outgrew your bike" really.... Just remember this, an entry level bike of today is much better than bikes that have won the TDF in the past. I like nice stuff, I like stuff that's cool and performs better, but I would never tell a new rider that they need something they don't. The time I was happiest on the bike was with a used bike I bought for $800 (and thought it was a fortune at the time) and didn't know anything about components or wheels. Now in the present I own a road bike, gravel bike, smart bike and another road bike on order. Honestly speaking, I was the happiest out there when I just had enough to ride. Just ride what you got and its good enough. Edit: many people misreading this post, it really has nothing to do with people buying expensive bikes. It has to do with marketing and word of mouth distorting what a new rider needs to enjoy the sport. To those who say this kind of advice isn't given to new riders, that is simply false. I was a new rider once and the benefits of carbon bikes and deep section wheels for example do not match real world performance. All I'm saying is, you don't have to break the bank to get into this sport .Also, the bike you have most likely isn't hindering your ability to have fun riding. That's really all I'm trying to say. Edit: I am a designer by profession, I spend all my working hours and much of my non working hours designing things. I can appreciate nice cycling equipment and have purchased just about everything outside of the truly top tier stuff. So many reading this as an “anti nice things” post and it’s really not.

Any tips on how to find the balance? I’m aiming for 90g carbs an hour but I’m doing between 2-4, 30-50 mile rides a week. That’s ALOT of carbs. I feel full after rides, I feel as if I can actually feel the fat forming, as if I’m getting stretch marks or something. I guess the amount of calories I’m taking in just just is too much to be balanced or deficit even when I’m burning thousands of calories a day. Is it reasonable to bump my carb intake down to say 40/50g carbs an hour? Or would you expect I will quickly bonk doing that on a 50 miler? Any tips or help appreciated.

Alright? I’m looking for others who have shopped at Rbble this past year. I payed 3400 pounds last may for a bike. The shipping (I live in Denmark) has been delayed several times because of limited stock. First till November. Then January. Then march. Then April 8th. Hi friends! Yesterday, I was part of an event with my colleagues, where we biked around 30km. I am extremely out of shape, and have just gotten into working out again, so I had a max range on a bike of around 3km before my legs were completely filled with acid. I probably shouldn’t have completed the ride, but i forced myself through. Around halfway through, in the middle of two of our pit stops, my tire blew out. So i had to bike 5km on a flat tire, while already in absolutely horrible shape. Well, i made it. But now, my legs are absolutely killing me. I literally cannot move them, i cant get up to use the bathroom, eat, shower, etc., because the pain is so bad. I used to lift weights, and this pain is just post-legday x100. Do you guys have any tips for treatment?

I’ve been riding since the start of the long lockdowns here in Australia (so not very long a year and a half or so). I’ve got an Allez Sprint Comp Disc with full 105 and Carbon wheels. And recently I’ve been looking at trying to find a full carbon bike with di2 or etap. I’ve been riding further distances, gaining speed generally improving.. But I feel like there is NO justification for my desire to upgrade my bike is great, it has decent to good parts and the paint job is bangin’ 😅. I don’t know what I’m hoping to get from this post.. tell me I’m stupid and I should be riding this bike for a longer period of time before I look into upgrading? Tell me I shouldn’t be scrolling fb marketplace for something that’s a “good deal” lmao. I’ve probably owned this bike for 6 months. Edit: I’m not specifically looking for gains, or feel like I’ve outgrown my bike.. which just adds to the feeling of it’s dumb to feel the need to upgrade. Maybe something more enduro would be nicer on longer rides but also.. I want SPEED anyways so.. that’s not even really what I want 😅
