I was butt on seat right foot on the right pedal left foot on the ground. She said proper form is both feet on the ground butt off the seat because “that’s what your supposed to do” is this true? I'm 6'4" and 360Lbs (and dropping). Throughout my adventure in cycling I've experienced some interesting things, being a plus sized cyclist. I've decided to journal my findings in hopes of sharing the lessons learned and encouraging others to get out and ride! I have just got a good deal on my used road bike, it’s a lot more advanced than me in every way. Iv been on it every day since (only had It since Friday) I am embarrassingly unfit… to the point I feel really self conscious of how much I’m gassed after little to no distance. There is a 2km path that is one big incline with has its flat areas how ever I can’t get a 1/3 of the way with out being hugely out of breath, I at first though it has something to do with my diet on keto but have since learned keto is definitely not an issue… Is there something I can practice or drill to specifically get my legs and lungs more up to scratch. Iv seen technique for climbs and tried both each one has the same results.

Finished my first 50k today!

I can’t believe I could do it! I’m reasonably fit but only got back into biking a month ago. It took me about 2 hours and 45 minutes, I stopped every 8 miles or so for a minute to get some water and a snack. I brought one Nature Valley granola bar (damn you crumbs) and had about 40 oz of water. Did it on a used 18 speed hybrid I found online for like $70 too! Put that together with my work commute this morning and I’d say I went about 55-60km total. Super proud of myself!

Ich fahre ein etwas in die Jahre gekommenes Stevens-Trekkingrad. Und es geht leider immer mal wieder etwas kaputt, was ich dann ersetze. So habe ich mittlerweile schon ziemlich viel Geld in ein altes Rad gesteckt und mich schon manches mal gefragt ob das noch Sinn macht. Jetzt hatte die Idee, dass ich eigentlich auch weiterhin alles kaputt durch was gutes, neues ersetzen kann und wenn irgendwann nur noch der Rahmen original ist könnte ich doch auch den ersetzen, oder? Habe ich da einen Denkfehler, gibt es irgendwelche Fallstricke oder kann ich das so machen?

The inanimate object that is my bike has on a number of occasions brought me to tears, tears of immense gratitude. Some of you may think this is overly sentimental, I am an overly sentimental sort of person, so you have a point. That being said, my sense of gratitude for my bike is immense. This object has changed my life. It has gotten me through some dark places, it keeps me fit, it provides me with an ability to explore, it gives me a sense of freedom and accomplishment. It is a form of therapy, my mood is always better after a bike ride. I take pride in my bike, I keep it clean and well maintained. It has instilled values in me that I may not have otherwise gained. My earliest memories are of me learning to ride my bike, then riding around with local kids, always being at the back of pack up still pushing on. I am 28 now, still loving it just as much. I am so thankful that I fell in love with this at a young age, as long as I always have my bike and my ability and drive to ride it, I'll be able to maintain my mental and physical health, hopefully well into old age. Thank you to my trusty bike. I am also grateful to myself for continuing to ride it, even when many times I really didn't feel like it. Even when I didn't feel like it, I never regretted riding it, I always felt better for doing it.
