I bought my first hybrid bicycle and when i looked up information on what height the saddle should be, it said that while sitting on the saddle, you should be able to reach the the ground with your toes. This makes a lot of sense to me, since if i'm in front of a red light i will want to stop without having to get off my saddle. In order for me to do that, i need my saddle to be almost at the lowest possible point. But when i look at almost every bicycle picture/video online, the bicycle saddles are much higher than even the handle bars. Can someone guide me into the right direction? Or am i fine and everyone else just raises the saddle high because they have really long legs?

Ich wollte mal fragen, wie ihr Situationen handhabt. wo Autos hinter euch nicht gut überholen können. Konkret habe ich zwei Situationen im Kopf: 1) Schmale, mäßig befahrene Landstrasse mit Kurven, die am Waldrand über leichte Hügel geht. Ein Bus und ein LKW, die sich entgegen kommen, kommen so gerade sicher aneinander vorbei. Fahrtgeschwindigkeit ist so meist 60 - 70 km/h. Wegen der unzureichenden Einsehbarkeit ist da auf ca. 1 Kilometer eine durchgezogene Linie, wo man mit dem Rad trotzdem häufig von PKW überholt wird. Die Landstrasse ist so schmal, dass die durchgezogene Linie auch beim Überholen eines Fahrrads überfahren werden muss, somit ist überholen da verboten. Es ist auch deswegen da nicht erlaubt, weil das [Sichtfahrgebot](https://sichtfahrgebot.de/) nicht eingehalten werden kann, das fordert, dass man beim Überholen das Fahrzeug auf der Hälfte der einsehbaren Strecke zum Stehen bringen können muss, falls ein Hindernis sichtbar wird. Da gibt es eine Stelle mit einem ca. 500 Meter langem schwer einsehbaren Bereich, wo erst eine leichte Rechtskurve ist. dann ein leichter Hügel, und dann kommt ca. 100 Meter hinter der Kurve eine Kreuzung wo ich links abbiegen muss, um durch eine Unterführung zu kommen. 2) Eine Vorort-Strasse mit Wohngebiet. die eigentlich zweispurig ist, wo aber auf beiden Seiten geparkt ist und daher für Autoverkehr im Effekt nur eine Spur frei ist. (Ob derartiges Parken erlaubt ist, sei mal dahin gestellt, ich bin da nicht ganz sicher) Autos, die sich entgegenkommen, müssen hier ḧaufig kurz warten. Ein Auto käme an einem Fahrrad knapp vorbei - wenn das Fahrrad dicht neben geparkten Autos fährt. Fährt man außerhalb der Dooring-Zone und hält 1 bis 1,50 Meter Abstand zu geparkten Autos, dann muss man so weit in der Mitte fahren, dass ein Auto, das von hinten kommt, nicht vorbei kommt. Wie ich diese Situationen handhabe: Situation 1 (Landstrasse): Da fahre ich normalerweise vor dem Hügel, also auf ca. 300 Meter, etwas mittiger auf der Fahrbahn, damit ich nicht überholt werde, und gebe frühzeitig (also ca. 200 Meter vorher) Handzeichen. Situation 2 (Wohngebit it parkenden Autos): Hier fahre ich mittig und fahre bei Gelegenheit rechts in eine Lücke rein, wenn ohne Gefährdung für mich überholt werden kann. Theoretisch ist es auch möglich denkbar, an solchen Stellen gleich ganz ran zu fahren und zu halten, damit Autos schneller vorbei kommen. Allerdings sprechen aus meiner Sicht zwei Dinge dagegen: 1) Wenn ich rechts ran fahre, wo mich Leute sowieso schon trotz fehlender Sichts und Verbot überholen, macht das die Situation für mich nur unsicherer, da ich selbst länger in einem Gefahrenbreich bin. 2) Wenn ich jedes Mal halte, damit ein einzelner Autofahrer ca. 10 - 15 Sekunden Zeit spart, ist nichts gewonnen, weil ich selber dafür mehr Zeit brauche - und die Zeit von anderen ist ja nicht mehr wert als meine. **Edit:** Ich glaube, was mich an der ersten Situation am meisten stresst, ist dass man da überhaupt überholt wird. Auch. wenn das durchschnittliche Tempo auf dieser Straße gar nicht so extrem hoch ist, ist es einfach ein bisschen zu unübersichtlich, um auszuschließen, dass einem plötzlich aus 100 Meter Entfernung ein Baustellen-Truck entgegen kommt. Ich bin da gerade gestern kurz nach der Kurve von einem SUV mit Anhänger und noch einem Fahrzeug überholt worden (beide komplett auf der linken Spur, also links von der durchgezogenen Linie), und es kam ein Baustelllen-LKW entgegen. Hat gerade so gepasst diesmal. Aber ich muss mich wohl damit abfinden, dass man die Leute, die das machen, nicht daran hindern kann.... ich kann nur zusehen, dass ich wenn es dann mal kracht, selber nicht auf dieser Straße bin.
