Got my first bike. It’s a hybrid. Not many bells and whistles. Didn’t get a branded one. It does have 2 discs and Shimano gears. I am overweight by a good margin and I was afraid I was going to die midway out of exhaustion. I didn’t. I started the day before yesterday and completed 25 kms today. Went to my office that’s 12,5 kms and came back in the evening. Burnt a fuck ton of calories. 700 to be precise. But this was the best I’ve ever done in my life. Yes I was exhausted. Yes I was sweating like a pig. Yes I was dehydrated. But all in all I made sure to recover properly. Above all, I enjoyed the ride. It wasn’t about pace or speed or cadence or some other pro stuff. I liked the breeze in my hair. When I felt it was too much, I slowed down. I enjoyed the ride. I guess that’s all that it takes for me to ride. I don’t know if I’ll buy a good/great bike ever. Maybe I will. Maybe I won’t. But I enjoy pedalling and feeling the breeze. Tingling on my little bell. My legs are sore. My ass is sore. But I will ride tomorrow. It’s the experience that counts for me. I have found a new love. Edit: a lot of goodfellas and ladies have asked me to wear helmet and be hydrated. I have a helmet, rear light, and I keep water with glucose handy. A few others have tried to help me cope with cold weather. Your suggestions are truly welcome. You have my heartfelt thanks.

Has anyone had luck with flagging Strava segments that are clearly done on an e-bike or a motorcycle? Does Strava actually do anything? I don’t want to come across as a sour grape but I worked really hard for 2 KOMs on some hills around town only to have a motorcyclist whose total activity was 10 hrs, 40+ mph avg, and 400+ miles take both of them at twice a speed I could even dream of going. Just a little salty is all. Stay safe out there y’all!
