Adding insult to insult

So in the spirit of commiserating with fellow cyclists... I set out today for an early 30 mile ride, after being off the bike a bit lately due to work and family. Tough ride, a little rusty, pretty slow on the climbs -- but that's the price of taking time off. Nonetheless, it was beautiful, the air was crisp and clean, and there was even a hint of fall around. Until I started climbing the big hill, went to downshift, and... whoops, cable is no longer connected to the shifter. Alright. I've done that repair before -- bit of a pain in the butt because you have to take off the bar tape, and unwrapping and re-wrapping the bars on the side of the road is some battlefield mechanics to be sure. But totally doable, and not that time-consuming. I pull back the rubber cover, and... right then what must have been either an Andean Condor or a damned flying Ostrich or something flew right over my head, and dropped just the biggest bird poop I have ever seen, right onto my helmet and shoulder. I mean, that bird must have gained ten feet of elevation after dropping that load. It was awful. So there I was, helmet and jersey off, pale upper body exposed to the world, bar tape unwrapped, by the side of the road -- doing a complete re-wrap and then a water-bottle-washup. Two other cyclists passed, and just about lost it laughing -- I must have looked like an absolute nutter squirting and scrubbing my jersey on the side of the road. I love cycling.

"Heavier" road bike rider needs advice.

Hey all! Very embarrassing but need some help. I had a knee surgery that involved me not being able to ride/exercise for nearly a year and in that time I've unfortunately put on some pounds (195 --&gt; 235). Being able to ride again I've noticed that my tires are performing differently under my new found poundage; tires look compressed when I ride and rear wheels feel "slippery". I swapped from 700c x 23 tires to 700c x 25 (Specialized Armadillo's paired with Specialized inner-tube) to see if that fixed it but haven't seen much of an improvement. My next idea was to go up another tire size to see if that helped but I dont want to be out another $80 for Armadillos. The irony is not lost on me that im trying to lost weight but the thing I want to do to lose weight is something I cant do lol. What are my options here? Go up another tire size? Get an inner-tube that I can dump a shit ton of air into? Current inner-tube is a 700 x 20-28 with a max 15psi. Any help would be appreciated. (Bike is a Trek Domane 2.0) &amp;#x200B; Edit: Im an idiot and read it wrong. Edit 2: Cranked up that air pressure and my god, its a whole different ride. Edit 3: thanks for my first awards ever! I broke 30 miles today

I got my bike (Momentum iNeed Street) 3 months ago. I'm 63 and overweight. My first few rides were 2 and 3 miles and left me winded and sore, especially my butt. I extended my rides to 5 and then 8 miles. As the weeks went by it got...less hard. Eventually a 12 mile loop became my workday ride and on days off I would ride further. Twenty miles became possible, then easy. Then I started doing 25. This morning I rode 31.5 miles. I don't go fast, but I go. Ive lost 30 lbs and feel so much better than I did before. I'm hooked. I hope I can get another good ride in before the hurricane hits.

Leuts, ich steh ein bissl aufm Schlauch. Ich plane eine Bikepacking-Tour, mit Rennrad und Zelt, aus dem Südwesten bis nach Stralsund und tu mich mit der Routenplanung schwer. Der grobe Verlauf mit ungefähren Tageszielen steht schon fest, der Plan war jetzt das alles in komoot einzugeben und dort fürs Navi planen zu lassen. Problem: das Rennradprofil bei komoot geht für meinen Geschmack in der Summe über zu viele Bundesstraßen, das Trekkingprofil ist eig super, viel über Radwege geroutet, aber leider zu oft zu viel Schotter, und dazwischen gibt's nix. Weiterhin muss man die Strecke immer nochmal zumindest überfliegen und sinnvoll bspw. von Straßen auf Radwege zurück führen, unnötige Steigungen raus nehmen etc.. Für meine Tourplanung ist komoot also nur semi-geeignet. Jetzt bin ich schon auf bRouter gestoßen, und holymoly, der ist echt super im Vergleich zu komoot wenn man sich ma reingefuchst hat, aber auch wenn die Route schonma besser aussieht iwie hab ich immer noch das Gefühl die ganze Route kontrollieren zu müssen. Was also tun? Weiter am brouter-Profil feilen? Denn eigentlich bin ich gar nicht so wild drauf, die Route bis ins Detail zu planen, damit geht ja auch eine gewisse Flexibilität flöten. Man könnte ja auch einfach nur nach Straßen- und Radwegsschildern sowie ner Karte fahren, aber dann werden die Distanzen eher länger als kürzer und über den Straßenbelag weiß ich dann ja auch nix. Ich hab so ein bisschen das Gefühl, das Anschaffen vom Fahrradnavi hatte nicht nur Vorteile, ist das bei euch auch so? Habt ihr nen Vorschlag wie ich das besser angehen kann?

Servus, ich bin auf der Suche nach einer Wandhalterung fürs Rennrad - könnt ihr da was empfehlen? Riding 100km on an outdoor bike track

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p-WiW5SwRVY It was a pretty much flat i.e. non-banked 450 metre track, and I decided to stick to the outside to make the curves more shallow so each lap was closer to 500 metres. Coldish drizzly day with little gusts of wind but the riding felt pretty much the same all round the track so at least it was consistent. I was trying out fuelling and got through 2 litres of Ribena (blackcurrant syrup drink) with extra scoops of maltodextrin in it, and a large bag of sushi; it did the job as I maintained over 30kmh for most of the ride, averaging 30.5kmh and taking 3 hours 19 minutes, which I'm more than happy with in retrospect. Was ready for a proper lunch after it though, and don't think I'll ever be doing this again... :)
