I’m an amateur road cyclist, and I’m 6’2 ((188cm) relatively fit ~200lbs (91kg). I’m not extremely tall, not heavy by any means…I normally wear size large or X-large in every other item of clothing I own—but I’m finding that even XL cycling jerseys are too short and tight this year, and some XXLs (yeah you Castelli) are even too small! What the heck is going on? Is anyone else experiencing this? Are these manufacturers just cheating on material?

I finally bought myself a helmet, it was $15 so probably not the best quality or best safety features but it has to be better than nothing, I hope. I was excited to wear it but when the day came for me to ride, I felt like a dork when riding around town. I live in a small town and almost no one that rides a bike has a helmet on. People gave me weird looks and I did feel weird. I honestly thought to myself this is the last time I'm wearing it. But then I got out on open road and started riding faster. I started to appreciate this piece of plastic on my head, it felt nice and comfy and it made me feel a little bit safer. I thought to myself "Maybe helmets aren't so bad". The moment that sealed the deal for me was when I stopped for a drink. I look over and I see myself in the shadow and boy does my shadow look good with that helmet on. So at that moment I said screw everyone that looks, I'll always be wearing my helmet. My question is, is it worth upgrading to a more expensive one? I ride a cheap mountain bike for financial reasons and I usually average around 16-20 km/h.

Hallo, meine Freundin und ich planen für die kommenden Urlaube einige Fahrradtouren, vorzugsweise durch Skandinavien. Konkret ist der Plan in diesem Jahr noch einige Tage an der Nordsee zu fahren, kommendes Jahr eine ca. zweiwöchige Tour durch Südschweden zu machen und wenn alles gut klappt vielleicht in zwei Jahren eine längere Tour durch recht verlassene Gegenden in Lappland. Strecken wären wohl hauptsächlich Gravel, gelegentlich Asphalt, ab und zu schmalr Wald oder Wanderwege. Ich selber habe ein vernünftiges Gravelrad, welches ich entsprechend ausrüsten werde. Sie fährt jedoch aktuell ein älteres Kalkhoff Trekkingrad, welches vor ca 10 Jahren um die 450€ gekostet hat (3x7; Felgenbremse). Mir ist bei dem Gedanken mit einem solchen Fahrrad derartige Touren zu unternehmen recht unwohl, allerdings habe ich auch die Tendenz schnell viel Geld für Ausrüstung auszugeben, bevor klar ist ob das überhaupt notwendig ist. Daher meine Frage, was wäre aus eurer Sicht die Mindestanforderung für ein Fahrrad für solche Touren? Ihr Budget liegt leider bei deutlich unter 1000 €, in diesem Bereich müsste man dann ja vermutlich ohnehin gebraucht gucken. Worauf sollte man da achten? Ich kenne mich zwar mit Fahrradreperatur ganz gut aus, habe aber noch nie gebraucht Räder gekauft. Bonusfrage: was haltet ihr von dem Riverside Touring [520](https://www.decathlon.de/p/reiserad-riverside-touring-520/_/R-p-332407)? Danke!
