We've had a few posts like this, and it's been a while since the last, so thought I'd share some thoughts for anyone getting in on either. They're the same in certain regards; training is just a bit of form filling, ID checks and contract signing, legally you have to register as self-employed for both, you buy your own equipment from wherever you fancy, you need to install their respective apps and you need to keep them updated when you arrive at the restaurant, collect the food and drop it off at the customer. People who still play it also find either platform handy for Pokemon Go. Flexibility: With Deliveroo you have to tell them in advance when you intend to work in hourly slots, which have a limited number of places and are first-come-first-serve. Consequences for being late or not showing up are mild, but they do exist. Meanwhile with Ubereats, you can go online and off whenever you feel like it. Distances: Deliveroo zones only cover a roughly fifteen minute radius across a popular part of town, and people (generally) can't order from outwith their zone. You can't go online until you're within the boundary and must let them know if you want to change zones (though they may suggest this to you if one is significantly busier). Ubereats covers most of the places they operate in, and will send you anywhere up to fifteen minutes away (their time estimates are wildly optimistic btw, I usually double them). Their zones are only for calculating payment, and it's quite possible you'll get sent on some cross town odyssey. Money: If you work a busy enough night you should make minimum wage and then some. I compared the two platforms a while back hour-for-hour at identical times and days and found I had earned similar amounts, but others may think differently. Deliveroo often pay small bonuses per order across certain hours while Uber pays larger fixed amounts for a specific number completed within the time. Neither's customers are great tippers, but Deliveroo's are marginally better. Restaurants: Deliveroo seems to prefer to be seen as highbrow, and I definitely went to more ethnic and mid-range restaurants, but KFC and Burger King are also on Deliveroo. Ubereats on the other hand is more all-encompassing, but 60% of my orders come from McDonalds. Definitely take this into account since they only start making the food once you arrive and announce your arrival, taking up roughly ten minutes per order. Support: Many riders will disagree with me here, but I generally found Deliveroo devoted quite a bit of effort to make sure we were happy and safe in our work. Though obviously the customers come first. Uber have never impressed me to the same extent; essentially, if you start to notice a running problem with them and report it there's far less chance it will actually get solved. Transparency: Deliveroo wins on this one. When you get an order request, you get info on where the restaurant and customer is and how much you'll be paid, including tips towards the end. Meanwhile, Uber only tells you the restaurant's location if you had the app open when they send you the notification - otherwise, only how far it is. How much you've earned? Can't check anything related to that if you're working on an order. All in all, the best thing is to have access to both and play it by year. A year ago there would have been no contest for me: Deliveroo would have won. Since they made my town a booking zone (rather than the truly free "free login" system) plus moved us onto distance based fees (which has, for me anyway, reduced my earnings overall), Ubereats has gained the advantage. Still, they only did so by simply avoiding Deliveroo's foot-shoots and I find plenty to be annoyed with them about - mostly related to their closeness to McDonalds and caginess.

Doctor has requested that I stay away from impact cardio and to pick up on either swimming or riding a bicycle. I have decided to ride a bicycle since A) known a bike, and B) I can't swim. I'm a single father of a beautiful daughter with medical needs which limits me to riding at home on a trainer...which I'm currently shopping for. My question: In choosing between a Fluid or a Magnetic bike trainer, which would be best for a beginner such as myself? My current stamina is not very good, hence my doctors recommendations.
