Don't get me wrong. I don't have anything against them. The question was not meant to target a certain race or gender. It's more around curiosity and what I have seen while cycling in Canada and joining clubs. So I was wondering if you guys think the same and why that is the case in terms of gender, race and age. Also how can we, as cyclist, promote this amazing sport to other peeps. Ps my goal for this year is to get my wife into it. Edit: I am not sure why I am being downvoted on this since the question is purely from a curiosity stand point rather than targeting a certain race, demo or gender. Also I have a blast hanging out with the biking group regardless of who or what they are as long as we drool over bikes the entire time and enjoy each others company

I didnt know cycling was a thing for lower level people until literally last year, and my mom had been riding a bike in a full kit for the longest time before hand and told me nothing of the sport. Last year, after noting how often I sprint to class on the regular, and how much cycling or riding puts me in a state of peace and calm, I decided to purchase a Cannondale CAAD8 Sora and start riding with my local team, who I didn't know existed until after a local race(of which I also didn't know existed). Thanks to that team and all those training sessions, group rides and what not, I feel like I'm the strongest i have ever been on a bicycle. A sprint down my local street used to feel like a Z6 effort, now it's more like Z4. This weeks group ride was the first I was able to keep up with almost the whole way through and still feel good at the end. On strava I'm putting in the same(ish) efforts I did a year ago and setting personal records. I learned how to fix and clean a bike on my own, and seeing my bike look and sound brand new makes me really happy, happiest I've been in a long time( it's been a rough 5 years). I cant wait to see what the race season brings.

Hi everyone! Hope you don't mind me posting this. I'm a Physiotherapist (Physical Therapist) who's really passionate about understanding injury and dysfunction. I've seen a few sore knees in my day and decided to publish an article on a side of knee pain I think gets missed a lot. Even if you're pain free and just want to move better it's all still really relevant. Too often I see people who ride develop knee pain but feel consigned to the fact that its bike, or exercise-related. From what I see there seems to be a few broader issues that may set the knee up to fail when we're out there having fun. In short it seems stiff ankles, tight hips and/or some low back stiffness could potentially hold the keys to explaining a large amount of non-traumatic knee complaints.
