Recently I have been thinking about what to do in my life for pleasure. I don't have any friends and I am trying to do something that would allow me to develop in some way. I have already ridden a bike, but only very short distances and I did not pay much attention to it. About three months ago I came back from just such a ride, then I remembered that there is an old road bike in my father's garage that he was using recently about 10 years ago, I took it and started to gradually repair it. I cleaned it, put on new brake cables (the old ones broke), changed the steering wheel wrap, etc. I started to be interested in this topic, bought my first outfit and traveled many different routes. I saw a lot of beautiful landscapes, did the 70 mile route and the camping overnight trip. For me, cycling is more than a form of spending my free time, I love to do it and I am experiencing an amazing surge of energy by doing it. I feel like I'm rediscovering myself and I'm happy that I have something that I love to do

Hello! Today I got my first road bike. I want to get into long distance cycling and eventually triathlon since I already swim and run long distances. Considering that it’s my first road bike, I thought it would be best to buy a used one. After looking at different used bikes at different bikes shops and online, I bought this one (picture shown below) for $200. Is this a good bike to start off with? And was it worth the price? Just 5 minutes from my house old dude parked in a disabled spot swung his door open at lightning speed, I swerved my bike too hard to avoid it and fell sideways sliding along the road. I’ve got a huge bloody graze on my hip and a smaller one on my forearm. Thinking back I would have probably been better hitting the door, I was only going about 15mph would have probably just been winded but who knows. At least if I did he’d have something to remember so he doesn’t do it again as he had no idea what he’d done he thought I’d just fallen off in the middle of the street. It really deflates me about cycling that something so small and stupid like someone blindly opening a car door can cause us so much danger. Stay safe out there and watch out for these bubble world people.
