Moin Die letzten Tage hab ich Probleme gehabt, aus dem Bett zu kommen und den Tag zu starten. Produktivität ist auf einem Tief, Gedankenaktivität auf einem Hoch. So richtig gut geht es mir nicht. Heute habe ich mir im Bett vorgenommen, Sport zu machen. Und ich habe es tatsächlich geschafft! Fühle mich jetzt frischer und besser, als vorher! Ca. 11km hauptsächlich durch den Wald und ein paar kleine Trails mitgenommen. Den Erfolg wollte ich teilen :) Schönen Tag euch

finally done my first 100km ride.

i've always wanted that gran fondo badge in strava since i started cycling in march. i rarely ride outdoor and my record on longest ride is 55km and 62 on trainer but anyway, i got introduced to these guys who coincidentally started cycling around the same time as me. we got drunk and signed up to our first 200km audax ride a few weeks later. fast forward to the event day, i was so excited or nervous i couldn't sleep at all so i thought i would try my best to go farther than 55km for my new record and whatever after that is a bonus, a great bonus if it's the badge. and somehow i did it all 200km, i finished the event along with the party even though i had to ride through a rainstorm in the last part and my whole body ached especially my butt and my socks were soaking wet but the feeling when the rain stopped and i took the turn from the main road and headed to the quiet rural road surrounded with rice fields in the dark was so great. that's it, i am so happy and just want to rant. tl:dr. had the longest ride record of 55km and drunk signed up for a 200km event and finished it and being very happy about it.

Thinking about hanging it up after crash... thoughts?

Howdy - I've been a rider for the last decade or so, mostly as a part of a group of guys who commute to work a few times a week. I love the social aspect (we're long time friends and stop for coffee every day). I'm 58 and in good shape. Last week I took a nasty fall when I skidded out on wet pavement while making a turn I've done 100+ times. Broke my hip, cracked a rib, and got a couple hundred stitches. It will all heal but I'm wondering if it's worth the risk thereafter. In the hospital virtually everyone advised against it as they see a ton of bike accidents, many worse than mine. I think of the times I've had near misses and of the accidents I know others have had - it's a lot. I guess I could try to be a more conservative rider... but that kinda goes against my nature and wouldn't have done a thing to prevent my crash. The thought of hitting the pavement again (a reasonably high probability) is really not attractive. Anyone gone thru this?

TdF Femmes did the right thing by finishing on Super Planche Des Belles Filles where everything could be contested. I'm sure the ladies are prepared for a proper grand-tour that's longer. I personally don't like watching all 4+ hours of a stage, so I stick to watching NBC's Extended Highlights. And I'm pissed that for the TdF, extended highlights were 30+ minutes long, and for TdFF they were under 15 minutes until the last stage.

Can I Hack a 100 mile cycle with a month practice?

As stated above, I’m looking at doing a 100 mile cycle next month (September 4th). Currently, I could probably get a 30 mile cycle done, which would exhaust me though (maybe 75% of my limit) However, I think if I fuelled up properly and got a comfier saddle, I could push 45 miles in my current fitness. So, how hard is 100 miles? I believe this cycle has pit stops to eat / recuperate, and I’m looking at cycling 3-4 days per week and building up my fitness over the next month. Is it possible or am I pushing my limits with the time available? It’s worth noting I do strength train etc, and am not in ‘bad’ shape. Thanks! Edit: The strong advice from everyone is leaving me convinced that I’m better off going for 100km next month. I’d rather have an enjoyable cycle and an enjoyable training plan. thanks for all the advice!

Hallo, ich stehe kurz davor, neue Reifen für das Hauptrad (80% Stadt, meist Asphalt, nur ab/an auf Touren im Umland) zu holen. Ich fahre eher mit 5-6 Bar und habe bisher eigentlich immer Drahtreifen gehabt. Habe etwas geschaut und Faltreifen sind teilweise deutlich teurer als die Drahtmodelle, was mich etwas überrascht hat. Daher auch generell die Frage: Sind Faltreifen der letzte Schrei? Und wenn ja warum? Mir würde jetzt spontan nur ein geringeres Gewicht (und leichterer Versand) einfallen...
