This afternoon. On the West Orange trail in Winter Garden outside of Orlando. A specific biking/walking trail. Intersection of the West Orange Trail and Brayton Road. Came to a 4-way stop intersection where the little trail goes over a side street in a neighborhood. Car to my right coming to a stop sign with me getting there first. I stopped. It looked like they were stopping too, so I went ahead. Except they did a rolling stop and were probably on their phone because they ACCELERATED. It was either that or I could get a slight hint of the driver "trying to prove a point". Except I revisited the little intersection and there are signs that say "Yield to bikers and walkers" along with stop signs and cycling crossing signs everywhere. Swiped me off the bike - amazingly my bike had no damage (older aluminum and steel road bike). I rolled off their front drive side on to the ground. There were two people on cruisers 20 yards behind me who were dumbfounded this had just happened. The car pauses and then speeds off. I'm sure their car had scratches all along the hood and front driver side. I didn't have a camera, there weren't any cameras around, I didn't catch the license plate, it was a basic grey car. I have a medium-sprained wrist and a sore hip, but I'm fine and my bike seems fine. The couple behind me asked if I was ok and helped me get the chain back on. I rode for another 20 minutes or so until my wrist started hurting and I turned around. **I didn't call the police**, even though I should have. It was 10 minutes into my 1-2 hour ride. **I'm honestly more pissed that I didn't call than anything else. There should be a note that a cyclist was hit on a cycling trail.** **ALWAYS STOP AND CALL THE POLICE RIGHT THEN**. Even if you're fine and this person might not be caught, just imagine the next time they do this and they kill a kid or family who's leisurely riding on the trail. Add another one to the pile. A person riding a bike hit by a car that leaves the scene of an accident.

Was für ein runtergekommenes Arschloch muss man eigentlich sein um Fahrräder zu stehlen? Da schließt man sein Fahrrad mit zwei Schlössern direkt vor dem eigenen Haus an nur um dann am morgen die Schlösser auf dem Boden liegen zu sehen.. ist doch nicht zu fassen, jetzt kann ich wieder 3 Wochen das nächste Ranz-Fahrrad suchen, dabei 50 verkackten ebay-verkäufern hinterherlaufen nur um dann 2 Monate später wieder vor nem zerhackten Schloss zu stehen. Wie wenig muss man in seinem scheiß Leben eigentlich erreicht haben dass man anderen die Mobilität klaut? Meine Fresse.. ich war lange nicht so hasserfüllt und gewillt jemandem die Kniescheiben zu zertrümmern, nicht mal weil ich so viel Wert verloren hätte, vor allem weil es mir so unverständlich ist, ich das alte Fahrrad echt mochte und sich irgendein Arschloch daran bereichert hat nur weil ich zu faul war das jedes mal ins Haus zu tragen und das nur an 2/3 Tagen gemacht hab statt immer... selber Schuld schätze ich... TLDR: Should I maintain tempo and pass a more relaxed rider despite many lights ahead or slightly slow down and ride outside of their draft? Hi r/cycling! First post here. So basically my commute has alot of lights and I don't really like to pass cyclists when I know there are lights ahead we will get caught at. Casual commuters I'll pass sure, but I feel like it instigates a race when you fly past a fellow road biker for virtually no reason. The other perspective is that the roadie feels pressured when you're behind them. In this case I always stay about 15 feet back to show that i'm not looking for a free ride. Sometimes they will look back and try to shake me off which doesn't really work cause im always happy to ride faster I'll just refuse to draft them. Maybe we just can't please everyone and maybe it's just everyone being too sensitive but I've been wondering if there is a right and wrong. Bonus questions: - Is it wrong to put in extra effort to drop an ebiker and why does it feel so good. - Do you go in front of cars that wave you on at 4 ways and soft crossings? Personally I refuse to go if they were there first. I really don't like trusting strangers when their cars are pointed at me. It's petty I know, but ultimately its to prove a point to the driver.
