Just finished my first 100km!

Today I went cycling with my friend, we decided to go for a longer rout, it ended up being 102km and we did it in about 6 hours with an average speed of 17km/h. The longest one till today for me was around 60km so this was quite a jump and I have to say I'm pretty proud I managed to do it. It was really hard to be honest, and when I try to stand up now I feel like im 95 years old. The terrain was just flat most of the time with a few short climbs (140m in elevation from the whole trip) so it wasn't that challenging but the wind was blowing straight into us for a good portion of time (21km/h - 18km/h) so that slowed us down a bit. I'm really happy with the performance and I look forward to riding even more soon.

I bought my first road bike and started cycling in November. I absolutely love it and try and do three rides a week. Last week I did four rides, 135km, 79km, 75km and 62km, with 5,734m (18,812ft) of elevation. I never thought I would actually enjoy going up mountains on a bicycle! What a wonderful sport we all have!

I finally got my KOM back!

Back in January, someone took my KOM by 1 second up one of the steepest hills in my area, and ever since then I’ve been determined to claim it as mine again, and I finally did that today. It’s not the longest segment out there, it’s only 0.37km long, and starts out flat and gets up to 17% towards the end. Last summer I got a time of 48 seconds, beating the previous KOM holder by 7 seconds, but then I was beaten by 1 second in January. Today when I went up the hill I surprised myself and went 5 seconds faster than the guy who took the KOM from me and did it in 42 seconds, with an average power of 11.4w/kg but keeping 14.5w/kg for the final 25 seconds. I just figured I’d share this here, since I don’t have anyone to share this with.

Hallo zusammen, wurde bestimmt schonmal in irgendeiner Form gefragt, ich habe bei meiner Suche durch den Sub allerdings das nicht konkret gefunden. Auch würde ich gern mal die Beurteilung von Personen hören, die ihre Meinung nicht mit Affiliate-Links untermalen. Also: Ist ein Singlespeed für den täglichen Gebrauch im Stadtverkehr bei sehr geringer Steigung geignet? Mir ist es wichtig schnell unterwegs zu sein. Kommt man auch gut bei Regen klar? Auf was sollte man beim Singlespeed-Kauf besonders achten? / Was macht ein gutes Singlespeed aus? Sollte man lieber auf ein Citybike oder Trekkingrad ausweichen? Würde mich mega über Einschätzungen freuen! :)

I am only new to watching pro cycling and decided to try get into watching this years Giro D'Italia. I love the buzz but I get quite confused with each stage. I thought for example that the long events would be just one big race and whoever comes first wins. But there is these little mini sprints that happen within them which im not sure what its all about? Also it seems to be a lot more of a team sport than I had originally realised. Anyone able to clear things up a bit for me so that I have a bit more of an understanding?

Living in a city, I had to find alternative to the famous "wash it in your garden". I am fortunate enough to have a bathtub in the apartment I live at the moment and it works pretty well. I just degrease the drivetrain with a good degreaser, wash everything I can with an old car sponge and the cassette and chain with ont of those thin Muc-off brushes. However, I'm going to move to another city and my new apartment will only have a shower. I don't care if my fixed gear becomes dirty, it's made for this, but I'd like to keep my carbon road bike in a good shape. So, how do you do it if you don't have access to a garden or a bathtub? Any tip would be great.
