Hello /r/cycling! I'm moving internationally (France to USA) in a couple months. I have a [vintage Peugeot](https://i.imgur.com/jL2OcCi.jpg) that I bought for €300 a year ago which has served me well as a commuter bike around the city. Originally my plan was to sell it here before leaving and buy another bike upon arrival in the US. However, looking on Craigslist in the area I'll be moving to, it looks like the bike shortage is still alive and well there. Bikes that wouldn't have been worth more than $100 a year ago are now going for 3x as much. Vintage road bikes comparable to what I currently have are in the $700-$900 range. I've always been a fan of this type of bike, since its affordable yet still very reliable. The lack of new features (like gear shifters on the handlebar) never really bothered me. So now I'm considering shipping my bike instead. It looks like it'll cost $100-$200, which seems silly to do for a bike such as mine. But considering the ridiculous prices and lack of availability from the current bike shortage, It's starting to feel like it may be a good option. What are your thoughts? I'm interested in hearing input from others here.
