Hi Reddit, I was on the way home by push bike. A car that was on the road coming opposite way threw me an egg. I think they aimed on my face but it hit on my chest. I was going around 20-25 km/h and the oncoming car was around 50-60. This is practically a 70-80km/h projectile. It could have been really serious incident if it hit on my face or eyes. I could have been blinded as the egg was thrown towards my anterior side, not the back or side. So I went to the police station to report this, and the officer gave me two options. 1. Formal - court 2. Tickets So the 1st option is like they would escalate this case to the court, and 2nd is just find the car and give him the ticket. The thing is if this case is escalated to the court, the punishment or penalty is on the majestry or the judge. So the punishment could be less than the actual ticket. The ticket that police can issue for the suspects is around $59 AUD. So I am not too sure what to do... I am so pissed off and I wanna actually fight with them physically, but it's not ethical and not the best solution. Has anyone experienced this type of situation and would like to give me some advice ? Thank you.

I’m a relatively new cyclist and just comfortable enough to ride on the road. There’s this side road in my town I’ll usually cycle and the speed limit is 20 or 25mph, roughly 1-1.5 long. It’s usually very empty. A few weeks ago, I was cycling down this road and a car came up behind me. I moved more to the right so they’d pass, and they didn’t. I thought maybe they had to turn and didn’t want to risk overtaking me and cutting me off. I brushed it off but the longer they were behind me, the more anxious I got. We’re coming to the last stretch of the road and they still hadn’t passed so I took the side street to the right just so I knew I was clear from behind. A couple days ago, I was on the same road. Car comes up behind me, I move over. 30 seconds go by, they don’t pass. I got nervous again that I couldn’t see them. I waved them to pass me and they didn’t. That made me more nervous. They followed me the entire stretch of the road. Both times I was only going about 10-15 mph. Both cars did leave ample amount of room between us which was comforting but between the horror stories I’ve read in this sub and the fact that I can’t see them, makes me nervous as hell. Maybe I’m over reacting but how do you handle cars like this? Let it go or deviate from your route?
