Hello, ​ I was hit today by a car in Long Beach California. We were both on the traffic light, opposite directions. I was going straight ahead and she was turning left. Light turns green, I start pedalling and she turns her car left and hits me. I roll on her wind shield and fall on the street. She attempts to drive off and I grab the car's door handle. She keeps on driving while I'm holding the door handle. She eventually stops and starts asking if I'm OK. My elbow is dripping blood now and my left left back hurts from the collision. I took a picture of her license plate and called the police after she left. They asked if I'm ok and if I want to bring the police. I was under shock as I had never been hit by a car before and I'm not even from CA - I'm from Europe. I am planning on going to a doctor to check that nothing happened to my lower back. The bleeding on the elbow is patched, still liquid comes out. I am not sure how to prove she hit me, all I have is a picture of the rare side of her car badly parked on the street. ​ Another driver stopped and took her side, telling me I was wrong and I had to wait for her (even though I had the right of way and she was turning left without a green left arrow! she waited for the car next to me to drive away and then she turned as I was behind the other car). The other driver was a dick and kept telling me to relax and to not call the police. ​ Other pedestrians were recording it but when it was all over I realised they had left. I don't know what to do. ​ Any info will help please

For no apparent reason This little adventure started in April when cleaning out a storage unit of a person no longer.... lets say they lost their assets. So there was this old Raleigh mountain bike with flat tires and I took it. Cost zero. However after putting new tubes in the tires I discovered it had issues, shifters not working well, brakes not working well. $90 at the local bike shop got everything up and running and off I went. I started out on the sidewalk doing the same route I was jogging twice a week. Part of that route was multi use trail but part of it was pedestrian sidewalk. I noticed other bikers giving me dirty looks and a little reading I learned it's actually illegal to do that. So I got off the sidewalk and boy, it was scary and uncomfortable. That first month I rode a total of 30 miles. I took my first trail ride in May and I enjoyed some aspects of it, but not others. I seemed more interested in the idea of covering distances than hitting trails so I began my hunt for a road bike. I finished May with 91 miles covered and I was excited to finally have biked 100 miles. My search ended with the acquisition of a 2007 Giant TCR C2 off facebook market. The bike looked more or less new. I don't know it's total history but didn't appear to have had many miles on it. It came with the clip on pedals and shoes my size so then began the awkward process learning by failure. Upon putting them on I immediately face planted in the driveway. My wife watched this with great joy and was upset she didn't have her camera ready for me to embarrass myself. (empathy isn't her strong point). On June 8th I took my first over the road ride. I rode from my house to the next town and stopped for breakfast at a fancy bakery there. I pulled up in triumph only to forget to unclip my foot and fall over like a tree in front of a crowd of people. At this point I'd probably fell 5 or 6 times. :( I did finish that ride at 17.4 miles which surprised me at the length and it remained my longest ride until recently. As summer inflicted itself on us I finally got a free Saturday morning to try something a little different so I went East to the Chief Ladega trail which eventually connects to the more well known Silver Comet trail that comes out of Atlanta. I took Ladega to the Alabama Georgia Line and back finishing up with 30 miles, which is no my new distance record. Then this past Tuesday I took my first group ride with other bikers. It's not been all moonbeams and rainbows. On my ride to the bakery a delivery truck nearly clipped me, and after one particular ride I overheated and on my way home had to pull to the side of the interstate and have an unpleasant moment in the grass. Such is life during Summer the Deep South. July is the first month I exceeded 100 miles in a month and I've still got time so we shall see how far I get get. I'm also looking forward to much longer rides when fall arrives and removes the near death factor that comes with walking outside in Alabama in the summer.

Ich bin sehr spät dran. Mit dem Schreiben. Sehr viel um die Ohren die letzten zwei Wochen. Und ich kann mich kaum noch erinnern an das Rennen. Ich glaube, es war nass und kalt auf dem Rabenberg.  Nicht ganz so pünktlich wurde der Startschuss per DDR-Startklappe vollzogen, blieb mir in Erinnerung. Bought my bike about a month and some change ago, trying to lose some weight. Today I was trying to top 15 mph avg on my normal 19 mi morning trail, ended up clocking in at 16.1! I actually got an adrenaline spike when I finished and saw the results during my cooldown. It’s safe to say I’m hooked now. I know it’s not anything spectacular but it made me proud and I don’t have anyone around me to tell haha

I love to cycle, and I've been using it as my primary means of transportation in a big city for the past 6 years (33F). Aside from the expected chaos of all the people trying to get around in a big city at once, (pedestrians on the bikeroute unknowingly, a lot of people trying to use a small space at once, etc), I also experience a lot of sexist behavior each day. For example, because I'm a woman, it is often assumed that I will be slower. I will often get presumptuously overtaken by male cyclists at a red light, where everyone's just waiting, and then they will go at a slower pace than what's ideal for me, and try to force me to stay behind them. It's soooo annoying. Also, I notice that a lot of male cyclists at least in my city cycle as if the rules pertain less strictly to them: crossing at red lights, going onto the bikeroute without letting the people who are already on it pass, even going in the wrong direction. But if I make even a small infringment (for examlpe cycling on the sidewalk in a place where there's no other possibility, or crossing a yellow light and having it turn red in the last few seconds), a man cyclist often takes it upon himself to berate me in a super-condescending manner. Often it's just as simple as what happened yesterday: I was on the bikeroute, which is right next to a sidewalk just as wide, there were some guys walking on the sidewalk, but one of them was walking on the bikeroute, blocking my way. I saw that he saw me, we even made eye contact, but he didn't move. I rang my bell, and as I got closer, I made it clear with my body language that I wasn't willing to move for him. I'll move for a pedestrian who clearly has no idea where they are if I can, but for someone who is purposely blocking me probably because I'm a woman, no. It just really pisses me off. So many times, I can feel that men, both pedestrians and cyclists, expect me to be submissive on the bikeroute. I just want to get from point A to point B, just as much as they do!! I abide by the rules, go at reasonable speeds, but I hate the frustration that comes from the friction of me expecting to be able to move freely (of course this is a relative term, but I mean as freely as other cyclists), and many men constantly making it clear to me that the bike route is THEIRS. No. The bike route is just as much mine, I pay my taxes too. And I'm sick of being treated like I have no right to be there. I guess I just needed to rant, but if lady bikers can relate to this, I'd love to read it, and if any cyclists, male or female, can offer constructive advice on how to deal with cyclist road rage, I'd be greatful for that too.
